Te Deum - 5th Century Monastic Chant (Solemn)

Monks of the one of the Abbeys of the Solesmes Congregation sing this beautiful chant. The Te Deum is attributed to two Fathers and Doctors of the Church, St. Ambrose and St. Augustine and is one the most majestic chants in the Liturgy of the Church. It is sung in traditional seminaries and monastic houses at the Divine Office and for Double feasts of the First Class, The Nativity, Easter, Corpus Christi, Epiphany, Pentecost and those which have an Octave. The solemn Te Deum is sung on all occasions of public Church rejoicing (in Traditional Catholic Churches)

Te Deum at Liverpool Cathedral

Ian Tracey performs the Te Deum by Marc Antonine Charpentier on the Grand Willis Organ at Liverpool Cathedral. This piece is worthy of the "name" I chose for this profile....as you will surely hear the bombardes! This track is from a CD long out of print, but somehow the Liverpool Cathedral online gift shop had a few copies for cheap on their website. *Much thanks to Martin Doering of www.die-orgelseite.de for allowing me use of his fantastic pictures.

MA Charpentier-Prelude to Te Deum @ St. Paul's Cathedral, Pittsburgh

I've recently returned from yet another trip to the USA, where I got to play some of the finest pipe organs once again. Here is THE example: the mighty Rudolf von Beckerath organ at St. Paul's Cathedral in Pittsburgh. The renovation process was finished in January 2009, so now here it is again in its' full glory. For details about the instrument, visit the website of the Cathedral or of the Taylor&Boody company. The tune that I play in this video needs no special introduction: it is MA Charpentier's Prelude to Te Deum. Please note that it is played by ear and that I am not a formally trained professional organist. Dedicated to my dear friends Mr. Frank Cummings, Mr. Roy Malcolm and Mr. Bruce Hayward. More uploads are to follow! Enjoy!

Te Deum (MA Charpentier) on Synthesizer

"Te deum" (Prelude) by MA Charpentier, recorded on Software-Synthesizer by Alexander Tuschinski. This baroque music is well-known as the title-melody of the Eurovision-show since the 50s. This interpretation on software-synthesizer makes heavy use of stereo-sound, so you can hear the different voices very clearly. Enjoy the music, and I would enjoy reading your comments :) Copyright by Alexander Tuschinski, 2009. All rights reserved

WA Mozart, Te Deum Laudamus KV 141, FNOK

This piece of Mozart is performed here by Richard Berkeley's New Chamber Orchestra & Choir in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Warsaw. The Te Deum Laudamus was written in 1769 when Mozart was only 13 years old and is one of his last "boyhood" works, one which pays tribute to the musical traditions of Salzburg in its homophonic declamation of text, with all choristers singing the text as one, and the double fugue in the final movement, with choral sections in imitation of each other.

Lully - Te Deum

"Lully is the 17th century French composer who suffered Death by Conducting, when he accidentally (and no doubt painfully) stabbed his toe with his conducting stick and contracted nothing less than a fatal dose of gangrene. He had been directing 150 musicians on 8 January 1687 in a performance of this Te Deum when this very unfortunate footnote in his 55-year life occured." Chia Han-Leon

Heinz Rögner is almost forgotten these days, like so many other important East German conductors. In my humble opinion was one of the finest and most unique Bruckner conductors ever, his Bruckner performances are characterized by slender, pithy sound, they're almost chamber-musical at times - even more so than HIP performances by Harnoncourt or Herreweghe - and relentless rhythmic energy. This is about as far from stereotypically solemn Bruckner as one can get, just listen to how aggressive the ostinatos of the Te Deum's first movement sound under Rögner's baton. This is my favorite Te Deum by far, I hope you'll enjoy it as well. Leave me a comment if you do and I'll upload more Rögner/Bruckner.

David Hurd - Te Deum laudamus - (1981) - Part 1 - Great Organ, St. John the Divine, NYC

Bruce Neswick performs from the 1st Sunday afternoon recital series at The Cathedral of St. John The Divine, NYC. This recital series, entitled 'The Great Organ: It's Sunday', began on September 13th, 2009. Bruce Neswick is the Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at St. John The Divine. About his work, David Hurd writes: TOCCATA - THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT uses the traditional solemn tone for the first verse of the Latin hymn Te Deum as a cantus firmus in the bass. The two phrases of the chant form the opening and closing sections of this movement while the middle section is a short fugue based on the melody of the first phrase.
