#36 - The Mangler (1995) Movie Review 1/2
Off the bat...I love this movie. Yes...I DID just say that. One of the most hated films of all time is one of my favorite horror films of all time...and yes that is The Mangler from 1995. Based (loosely) on a Stephen King story, directed by Tobe Hooper, and starring Robert Englund and Ted Levine. And Yeah...I realize I'm the only person on Earth who loves the movie...and lol I do not care, cause I still love the flick and am proud to put it as #36 in my 69 favorite horror films. Detective John Hunton (Ted Levine, in my opinion giving a great performance in a rare role as the good guy/hero) is investigating an iron folding machine that has found a taste for blood. While he tries to solve the mystery, Bill Gartley (Robert Englund), the owner, wants to find new victims for his machine. I do love the flick. It's fun, it's over the top, it features solid performances by both Ted Levine and Robert Englund, and has a crazier than hell ending (as well as a very pissed off Ice Box). It was followed by 2 sequels...which I will see...God Help us all...and this is coming from the guy who LOVES the first movie.
