Telefunken color tv set from 1967 with ARD color logo
This video shows a Telefunken color tv set, the PALcromat, made in 1967. It was one the first PAL color tv sets in Europe. The tv set is fully restored and after more than forty years still in working condition. The tv set displays the beginning of the first PAL color tv broadcast, aired on August 26th, 1967 with the ARD "in farbe" color presentation logo of the 1960's.

Telefunken AR51 Tube Microphone - Acoustic Guitars Video in the Recording Studio
www.soundpure.com Telefunken AR51 tube microphones beautifully record acoustic guitars with warmth and smoothness in the midrange, a nice tight bottom-end, and an open and brilliant top. In the first segment the mic on the right was placed near the 12th fret of the guitar and the microphone on the left was placed over the guitarist right shoulder. This approach creates a very large and balanced stereo image. As you can hear, these mics are warm and very pleasing in the mid range and articulate in the top end without being overly bright. You will then hear a studio recording of a stereo pair of the Telefunken AR51's on a Martin HD28. In this setup we hear more body from the acoustic due to the placement of the the mics than we did in the previous example, nicely displaying the versatility of the Telefunken AR51's in the recording studios. TELEFUNKEN ECHOMIXER 1961 Vintage Reverberation Mixer | HQ DEMO
The Telefunken Echomixer is a interesting German mono mixer from the year 1961. A great vintage piece with old discrete comoponents (old transistors, no tubes). It is a Mixer + an amazing spring reverberator. the first A channel is dry, and on B and C you can select the spring reverb amount between the two lower sliders. Overdriving the input sounds also nice. I did this with a Roland TR-606. In the video I also play a Korg MS-20 through the Echomixer. The Echomixer has only DIN jacks (they look like MIDI jacks). It was used by Klaus Schulze on the album "Irrlicht".

Vintage Television IX: Telefunken Pre-war TV set from 1937
The Telefunken FE VI/1 was introduced in Summer of 1937. It was one of the first television sets in Germany, which operated with the new 441 line television standard. This set was restored in 2009, and brought back to working condition with the old 441 lines German television standard. The anode connector of the picture tube was broken and fixed. The video section was "upgraded" for 625 lines negative modulation, and was restored to 441 lines positive modulation according to the original schematics. Some faults in the IF section were fixed. It is the first time after WW2, when a German prewar television set was operated again with the original prewar television standard. The television signal was provided by Darryl Hock's World Converter. Like many others of these sets in these years, this is a mirror-lid set. Due to the extreme long picture tubes, the picture tubes were installed vertically, and the picture was shown in a mirror. This keeps the sets smaller as when the picture tube was installed horizontally. This video shows some still images of the set and a video clip displayed on the tv set. One photo shows the British testcard C on this set, demontrating that a German prewar tv set is able to display the British 405 television standard without modifications. Another test with displaying the German 441 lines television signal on a British prewar tv set from 1938 was successful too. Search on the web for "RAF Reception of German TV from Paris".

Along the train tracks in West Sayville lie the remnants of a World War I German Telecommunications Station. Telefunken built the first antenna capable of transmitting from America to Europe. However a radio enthusiast intercepted the Zimmerman telegraph being sent from Germany to West Sayville in order to be relayed to Mexico. This brought the Americans roaring in and ever since the grounds Telefunken owned were US run. There are no buildings or towers left, but you can still find plenty to remind you that this place was an active base at one time.

This tv set has the original A63-11X color picture tube in good condition, is fully restored and after more than forty years still in working condition. The tv set displays scenes from the first PAL color tv broadcast, aired on August 26th, 1967. The flicker on the screen depends on varying ambient light which caused the camera to flicker.

As ademonstration video for my blog, I created this video which demonstrates the misc. functions of the tape loading mechanism of a S-VHS video tape recorder, model Telefunken A1200 (technically identical to JVC HR-S5000). It shows different drive functions of this special half-load deck with classic M-Load, like tape loading, playback, fast forward/rewind, stop, eject, ... always explained by a short German introduction.
Summer NAMM: Telefunken M-80
Handheld Dynamic Microphone Telefunken USA are now shipping their M80, the first handheld vocal model in their range of high-class microphones. The M80 is a cardioid dynamic mic with a frequency response of 30Hz to 18khz. According to the manufacturers, it has a very low-mass diaphragm (so is very sensitive to transients), and its output transformer is made by the same American company, AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk, that make the transformers found in the rest of the Telefunken USA range. Despite its 'stage vocal' look, the M80 hasn't been designed with a specific application in mind. In fact the designers say that it's suitable for vocals, snare drum, guitars and horns, both in the studio and on stage. They also say the its rubberised body and rugged chrome basket should keep the sensitive components safe and sound, even after serious abuse!
