It was released on 23 February 2007 in Belgium and the Netherlands, on 26 February 2007 in the rest of the world and in late March in North America. The album was preceded by the release of lead single "Ruby" on 19 February (see 2007 in British music). It became the band's first (and to date, only) number one album in the British album charts. Once again produced by Stephen Street, producer of the band's debut album Employment, Yours Truly, Angry Mob is lyrically darker and more socially aware than its predecessor, with tracks dealing with street crime, violence, fame, and the inaccuracy of tabloid articles. The band had earlier revealed to NME in October 2006 that they had recorded 22 songs and hoped to whittle that number down to 13 or 14 for the final album.[4] Additionally, in July 2006 the band revealed to Gigwise that they'd hoped to have the album released by Valentine's Day 2007. The album was leaked in its entirety on February 21, 2007. The album was criticised by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who likened it to his own record The Great Escape. Hunt the Kaiser's Cruisers - 2of2 - The Last Ship Afloat In the early days of the 20th century, the German Kaiser challenged the naval power of the British with a new and mighty battle fleet. Who would rule the world's seas? It was a question that would be decided in the First World War. After the shock defeat of the British at Coronel, a battle which cost 1700 seamen their lives, Winston Churchill demanded a merciless revenge. Off the Falkland Islands, the entire German overseas squadron with a crew of 2200 men was sunk. Only two cruisers escaped the demise of their fleet, the Dresden and the Emden. Churchill set a bounty on them, making them the most hunted ships on the Seven Seas. In the icy fjords of Patagonia and the tropical heat of the South Seas, both crews battled for their very survival. After a dramatic hunt they were both finally sunk. Nonetheless, most of their crewmen escaped death and returned home safe and sound. How this came about and their long adventurous journey through the war-torn seas and continents is recounted by two very dramatic documentaries in the Hunt the Kaiser's Cruisers! series, The Caravan of Sailors and The Last Ship Afloat.
