EXTREME CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN WHEN MIXING POTASSIUM NITRATE AND SUGAR. A ratio of approximately 1 part potassium nitrate to 1 part granulated sugar to 4 parts hot water by volume is utilized in this tutorial. All three components are mixed until a complete homogeneous solution (all solids are dissolved) has been created. If there are still solid particles which have not dissolved, it means the water has reached a saturation point whereby the solute cannot be dissolved any further into the solution. I used my Gibson Les Paul Goldtop plugged into my Line 6 UX-2 interface, and then recorded it with Logic Pro 9 on my iMac. I attempted to re-create the sound of the overdriven hammond organ, and have arranged it for Guitar...I don't think it sounds too bad. Also, for the fuzz part, in Logic Pro I ran the signal through 3 fuzz faces in a row XD I did the video titles and stuff in iMovie. I do not intend to infringe copyright in any way. As this pump goes up and down it sucks sea water and pumps sea water out, purely through the action of the waves." He came up with the idea about 10 years ago while playing with an inflatable ball in a swimming pool. Searaser pumps seawater using a vertical piston between two buoys - one on the surface of the water, the other suspended underwater and tethered to a weight on the seabed. Alvin Smith explained: "You have got the Searaser in the water that will be operated by the waves and swell, anything from half a metre swell or more it will work. You pump it to a tank or reservoirs then you can hydro on demand electricity through your turbine." Science to the rescue, finally. MIT PhD candidate Dave Smith and his team of mechanical engineers and nano-technologists from the Varanasi Research Group, have finally solved our ages-old debate on how to best get condiments out of the bottle. Previous to this invention, the extraction of ketchup from the bottle has been a point of pride for some. Everyone's method is different. Some advocate jamming a butter knife into the neck of the bottle to dislodge the contents. According to its website, Heinz 57 recommends applying "a firm tap to the sweet spot on the neck of the bottle -- the "57." Our children may never have to know this trick, thanks to LiquiGlide. The super slippery, non-toxic coating keeps condiments like ketchup, mayo and mustard from sticking to the sides of glass and plastic bottles, and allows them to slip right down to the most important place: your food. Smith told Austin Carr at Fast Company that they were originally interested in applying the LiquiGlide coating to car windshields and the insides of gas or oil lines that frequently clog. MIT and Harvard in battle to create life-changing product: Non-stick ketchup bottles It's the world's biggest non-problemic problem: getting the last bit of ketchup out of the jar. Ketchup is so viscous, and it seems so eager to stick to glass and plastic. But leave it to students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to solve the greatest non-issues of our generation: A team of engineers have designed the perfect condiment bottle — one that ketchup simply cannot stick to. The secret is in a futuristic substance known as "LiquiGlide," a non-toxic, FDA-approved coating that can be applied to the interior of bottles. According to MIT PhD candidate Dave Smith, it's "kind of a structured liquid — it's rigid like a solid, but it's lubricated like a liquid." Regardless of what the bottle is constructed of, liquid or plastic, ketchup will flow out of it nearly effortlessly. It seems like ketchup sticking to the inside of bottles is a more compelling problem than many realize — a rival team at nearby Harvard University have been working on similar, plant-derived, ketchup bottle technology. And the idea of a friction-less ketchup bottle caught enough people's imaginations to win the audience choice award at the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition.
