Tirunesh Dibaba is a worldclass athlete from Ethiopia, born in 1985, weighting 44kg (97.24 pound) and measuring 1.55m (60.45 inch). She ran (and raced) bare foot till the age of about 16-17. Last year she ran a WR on a 15km race in my country, doing 46.28. Unfortunately I wasn't there to see here life in action. Huge mistake ....... She is my favorite female runner. She's shows superior technique, runs very fast and makes it looks so easy, effortless and relaxed. A great example of beautiful and efficient running!!

Ethiopia's Olympic champion and world-record holder Meseret Defar clinched her first outdoor world title with a decisive victory in the 5000 meters. The 23-year-old was left as the ovewhelming favorite for the race after teammate Tirunesh Dibaba decided to skip the 5000 meters because of illness following her 10000-meter triumph. Biding her time in the humid conditions, Defar toook the lead on the penultimate lap and kicked on the final run down the back straight to leave the field for dead, crossing the line in 14 minutes 57.91 seconds. Double world 10000m champion Tirunesh Dibaba added the African title at the Addis Ababa stadium on Saturday.
