Title IX needs to be construed in a different way. Whether male or female, any collegiate athletic program should not be cut.

The Applicability of Title IX

Title IX provides an important protection against unfair policies in school sports. Our lawsuit seeks to keep Title IX from being hijacked by activists whose agenda is rigid quotas, not fairness and opportunity for everyone regardless of sex. Title IX says public high schools must make athletic opportunities available to all students. It was never intended to undermine genuine equal opportunity by substituting inflexible sex-based proportional formulas for athletic enrollment. www.pacificlegal.org

This examines those respective sports clubs at USC and if it will be possible to bring these programs to the NCAA in the future.

Generation IX

A one-hour documentary exploring the frustrating conundrum of women in sports. In the age of Title IX, womens sports have grown expensive, time-consuming, complicated and extraordinarily competitive, even at the most elementary levels. Injuries are more common; scandals appear more prevalent, rewards seem less certain. Millions of American moms and dads send their daughters onto playing fields each year, yet many of them wonder: are organized girls sports worth it? NCAA volleyball champion University of Washington travels to China, home of many of the best women athletes in the world, and provide the focus for a revealing look at the future of women and sport. A smart, finely tuned film, worth viewing by anyone who gives a hoot about young women, athlete or not. —SEATTLE TIMES
