Katie Melua said that she liked the song "because it is a simple juxtaposition of a trivial idea ("Nine Million Bicycles") against an important idea ("I will love you till I die")". The song "Nine Million Bicycles" was issued in 2005 and it reached to #2 in both Netherlands and Poland, #4 in Belgium, #5 in UK in 2005/2006. According to Melua, the inspiration for the song came from when her interpreter during her time in Beijing, China was showing her and her manager, Mike Batt, around the city. The interpreter gave them information about Beijing, including that there are supposedly nine million bicycles in the city. Batt wrote a song based around the title "Nine Million Bicycles" upon his return to England two weeks later. Katie Melus was the United Kingdom's biggest-selling female artist and Europe's highest selling European female artist in 2006, ECHO Award Best International Female Artist in 2007. She was born in the Georgian SSR, but moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland at the age of eight and then relocated to London, England at the age of 14.

As I said in the previous upload from this album, it's a great album containing some great pianowork and some great classical songs, with, to top it all off, a nice variety of styles, ranging from jazz to classic violin songs and some acoustic guitars. The previous upload should be enough to show how sad a violin can make a song sound (especially when it's the main instruments, like in TAM's case), but well it's not always like that, there are occasions when a violin can not sound totally desperate or sorrowful. There are 2 occasions where it's like that, the first is when it's an electrical violin, or when it's some poppish kind of violin song (ie Vanessa Mae); the second is what I like to call the "Celtic" feeling, it's when the violin doesn't sound sad at all, but actually sounds pretty upbeat and cheerful. This song, well it contains a big contrast of songs, Lullaby of Deserted Hell is a very sad song, very fitting for it's stage, and it's title just serves as a way to "power up" that sad feeling, a lullaby for the deserted streets of former hell. I found myself quite entertained by this episode, enthralled by the character development in Asuka, but the whole dancing thing just went over my head. Besides, I don't think anyone has used it for this theme yet, so I'm cool with it. :) The idea for this vid came up months before I ever had a song. I really wanted to make a vid comparing and contrasting both Doctors, showing just how much he's changed and yet how much of him still stayed intact. Then this song came along and it all fit perfectly! This is Ten looking back on his time as the Ninth Doctor, realizing how much he's changed since then and wondering if it was all for the better.
