This video is nothing special... I just wanted to try how it's gonna come out. I like cooking sometimes so I thought I could show you guys how to cook Japanese food in 30 minutes. But it looks good for taking only 30 minutes to cook. My favorite Japanese food is Tonkatsu. Tonkatsu is deep fried pork. It's very easy to cook. You don't need any skills. You just need your energy to go on. If you want to try to cook it, here is some ingredient: 1.Pork (or Chicken or Beef if you like it better) 2.Solt & Pepper 3.Flour 4.Bread crumbs 5.Eggs 6.Your enegy Hope you have fun on this. Tonkatsu is a pork cutlet. It's simple yet delicious popular Japanese dish. I received many request of it, so I made this tutorial. I hope you learn how to make it. --------------------------------- Tonkatsu Difficulty: Easy Time: 15min Number of servings: 2 cutlets Ingredients: 2 boneless pork chops salt and cracked black pepper A * flour * beaten egg * Panko (bread crumbs) vegetable oil for frying white sesame seeds Tonkatsu sauce Karashi mustard if you like shredded cabbage Directions: 1. Slash white fat rimming of pork chops in several places to keep meat from curling or shrinking when deep-fried. Beat the pork chops with a meat pounder or a rolling pin to make them tender. Season both sides with salt and pepper. 2. Flour the pork chops lightly, dip in beaten egg, then coat with Panko. Use one hand for coating flour and Panko, and use the other to dip in egg to keep one of your hands dry. 3. Fry them in oil at 170C (340F) until cooked golden brown. (Turn the pork over to cook evenly.) Remove the Tonkatsu from the oil and drain. 4. Cut each Tonkatsu into small pieces and serve on plates with shredded cabbage. Make ground white sesame seeds and mix Tonkatsu sauce. Dip into the sauce and eat. Ingredients: •chicken breasts or thighs - de-boned and flattened (one per guest) •flour •eggs •panko (Japanese bread crumbs) •vegetable oil •Tonkatsu sauce Preparation: Heat oil in frying pan. Coat chicken with flour, dip in beaten egg and roll in panko breadcrumbs. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Slice and serve with tonkatsu sauce for dipping. As an alternative you can marinate the chicken for up to one hour before cooking in a sake marinade combining 2 tablespoons, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon minced ginger and 1 teaspoon minced garlic, blended well. Tonkatsu Sauce (variation 1) •1 cup catsup •1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce •1/2 cup sake •2 tablespoons ginger •2 tablespoons garlic •1/4 cup sugar •1/4 cup mirin Put all above ingredients in sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring occasionally. 6/27/10 - In this episode of "Grinding Out", we are at American Village in Chatan, Okinawa - Japan, where Sarah and I had dinner at Tonkatsu Taro Restaurant. This is by far one of the best Tonkatsu Restaurant in Japan and in the World. They specialize in Tonkatsu only and have a vast selection of menu items. Sarah had their Pork Tonkatsu Curry, and I tried their Jumbo Shrimp and Pork Tenderloin Tonkatsu Combination. Both Entrees came complete with Steamed White Rice, Shredded Cabbage Salad, Seaweed Soup and Tsukemono.
