A small missions group traveled halfway across the world to deliver a sefer Torah to the Jewish community in the Putti village of Uganda. The group was supported by Rabbi Nasanya Zakon and Rabbi Avraham Bloomenstiel, and lead/ delivered by Dr. Isador Lieberman and Judah Epstein. The Group also delivered over 200 Kinder Kits which include a backpack filled with useful school supplies for the children of the village. The Mbale community has been in existence since the early 1900's and did not have a torah of their own, but thanks to the work and preparation of the team, finding, restoring, and delivering the Torah, they now celebrate having the Torah in this small village.

Further, it is said that NOT ONE WORD of TORAH is about this world, but about that which is HIGHER. (Just notice the contradictions in Torah, then think through them.) Also; 1) Hebrew is written and read right to left. 2) Like English with its 2 forms to the alphabet, an upper and lower case version, Hebrew has a "block and a cursive script." Sometimes this Rabbi mixes both forms when writing a single word, which can easily be confusing. 3) There are 22 letters in Hebrew, each is a consonant. Vowels are not considered as letters, and are depicted as dots or bars. Rabbi Levi Rivkin reads the Torah on Hoshanna Rabbah 5767 (2006) in Tampa. This is just a short portion of one Aliyah (one of the seven divisions of the weekly Torah reading). In order to Lain the Torah (read it in the traditional chant) one must memorize the melodies for the whole Torah as the Sefer Torah (hand-written Torah scroll) has no musical notation as well as no vowels. In addition to the congregation member being honored with an Aliyah, Rabbi Rivkin is flanked by a few people. One is the Gabbi who is responsible for calling congregants to the Torah and offering a Mishaberach (special blessing) to them on the completion of their Aliyah, and also helping with the reading. Each congregant honored with an Aliyah says the blessings before and after the reading and also remains at the Bimah (the table for rading the Torah) until the next reading is finished. By tradition there must be three congregants at the Bimah during the reading. The Torah reading is a central part of morning prayer services on Shabbos (Saturday) as well as on Holidays. A shorter reading service of only three Aliyot is done on Mondays and Thursdays during Shacharis (the morning prayer order). The public reading of the Torah is a tradition well over two-thousand-years-old, and the rules and the melodies of the reading are equally venerable.Thank you for viewing our films. There are two parts to the Torah: 1. Written Torah 2. Oral Torah The Torah was given to Moses in written form (Ten Commandments) with oral commentary. The Torah is the primary document of Judaism. Torah, which means "law". God revealed the Torah through Moses. It is thus written, "Moses commanded us the Torah, an inheritance to the congregation of Jacob" (Deut. 33:4). God's revealed instructions to the Jewish People. It teaches Jews how to act, think and even feel about life and death. It also teaches how man should worship God or treat his neighbor. The entire Torah was given to Moses during two intervals. The first part was given during the year after the Exodus. The rest was given shortly before Israel crossed the Jordan at the end of the 40 years in the desert. Moses then wrote down this Torah. He gave it to Levi's descendants, the priests in charge of the Ark of Gd's covenant, and another 12 copies to the elders (of the tribes) of Israel. Because the Torah reveals God's will to man, it was given letter by letter to avoid any misinterpretation. Throughout all generations, great care was taken to preserve the Torah exactly as it was given by Moses. The scribe is thus given the advice, "Be careful with your task, for it is sacred work -- if you add or subtract a single letter, you will destroy everything." Since every Torah must be letter perfect, it must be carefully copied from another scroll. It is forbidden to write a single letter without copying it from another <b>...</b>
