The Tragically Hip - Cordelia

Song off the album Road Apples (1991) Lyrics: Angst on the planks, spittin' from a bridge Just to see how far down it really is Robbing a bank, jumping from a train Old antiques a man alone can entertain It takes all your power To prove that you don't care I'm not Cordelia, I will not be there Tin can man, dragging from a car Just to see how alive you really are Marrying words, falling in your wake Just to tell what you can't eliminate Treading the boards, screaming out Macbeth Just to see how much bad luck you really get Jump in the ring with your hidden cape The bull can't decide what it is that he really hates Angst on the planks, spittin' from a bridge Just to see how far down it really is Robbing a bank, jumping on a train Old antiques a man alone can entertain Thief lingers on, on his hands and knees Must be one more thing here I really need Die in your dreams, falling on your knife A thief blinded on the job, has to steal for life

Tragically Hip Fifty mission Cap

"Fifty Mission Cap" is a song by Canadian rock group The Tragically Hip from the band's third full-length album, Fully Completely. The song was released as a single in 1992. The song is a tribute to Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Bill Barilko, reintroducing Barilko's story to a younger generation, and is among The Tragically Hip's most popular songs. The song's influence on public awareness of Barilko's story was such that the band is devoted an entire chapter in the 2004 book '67: The Maple Leafs, Their Sensational Victory, and the End of an Empire. The song's lyrics describe the mysterious disappearance of Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Bill Barilko. Barilko scored the Stanley Cup clinching goal for the Leafs over Montreal Canadiens in the 1951 cup finals. Four months and five days later, Barilko departed on a fishing trip in a small, single-engine airplane with friend and dentist, Henry Hudson. The plane disappeared between Rupert House and Timmins, Ontario, leaving no trace of Barilko or Hudson. Eleven years later, on June 7, 1962, helicopter pilot Ron Boyd discovered the plane wreckage roughly 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Cochrane, Ontario (about 35 miles off-course). Barilko was finally buried in his home town of Timmins, the same year that the Maple Leafs won their next Stanley Cup. The song's lyrics also reference the World War II style US Army Air Corps, or US Air Force officer's cap, mentioned in the song's title. The fifty mission cap was a cloth cap with ...

The Tragically Hip - "Get Back Again" - Sept 8, 2011

That night in Simcoe, Paul Langlois and Gord Sinclair of the Tragically Hip hosted a very special evening for a small group of friends and fans. Joining them for this campfire jam, The Campfire Liars Club took turns jamming familiar tunes around the fire with the city of Kingston on a not too distant shore in the background. It was Gord's turn again to pick a tune to play... What a special moment when he introduced this song...and described it as a 'biblical love song'. This impromptu video's quality is grainy and dark, but the guitars of Paul and Gord are pure and clean. The Hip talent runs deep, these guys are as good as it gets. CLC are Paul Langlois, Jeff Montgomery, Greg Ball, and Jim Tidman. Check them out here: www.facebook.com "Get Back Again", described as a biblical love song by its creator Gord Sinclair is a mysterious, elusive, unreleased song by the Tragically Hip. Not appearing on any album, this song has only been publically performed a few times. According to www.TheHip.com, "Get Back Again" was performed in concert in Halifax on April 6, 1990 and again five years later on February 6, 1995 in their hometown of Kingston. Paul and Gord Downie also performed it on the CBC with Murray McLauchlan and his band in 1992. During a 1996 interview with Hip drummer Johnny Fay, Johnny said he has always loved this song and wanted to put it on a record for a long time. After a few listens, you'll know why too...
