The Trammps Disco Inferno

This song was originally performed by the Trammps in 1976, and gained much greater recognition once it was included on the soundtrack to the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever. To mass fires, yes! One hundred stories high People gettin' loose y'all gettin' down on the roof - Do you hear? (the folks are flaming) Folks were screamin' - out of control It was so entertainin' - when the boogie started to explode I heard somebody say Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down Burnin'! Satisfaction (uhu hu hu) came in the chain reaction (burnin') I couldn't get enough, (till I had to self-destroy) so I had to self destruct, (uhu hu hu) The heat was on (burnin'), rising to the top, huh! Everybody's goin' strong (uhu hu hu) And that is when my spark got hot I heard somebody say Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down, yoh! Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down Burnin'! Up above my head I hear music in the air - I hear music! That makes me know there's (somebody) a party somewhere Satisfaction came in a chain reaction - Do you hear? I couldn't get enough, so I had to self destruct, The heat was on, rising to the top Everybody's goin' strong That is when my spark got hot I heard somebody say Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! (Aah yeah!) Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno, yeah! Burn baby burn ...

The Trammps - Hold Back The Night

Here's our 1992 remake of the Philly classic. The Trammps were on tour with my guitar player, Erwin Keiles, and I cut five tracks with them, this one, along with "Feet Don't Fail Me Now", "Conversation", "My Love Is Free" and "Ten Per Cent". We also did another version of this song, "Hold Back The Night", as a sort of duet along with pop group KWS, which charted top thirty. But here's the version we did of just The Trammps, remaking "Hold Back The Night"

The Trammps - Disco Inferno

Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Sound Track is the soundtrack album from the blockbuster film Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. In the United States, the album was certified 15x Platinum for shipments of over 15 million copies. The album revived the phenomenon of disco in the US and was a national obsession. "Every so often, a piece of music comes along that defines a moment in popular culture history: Johann Strauss' operetta Die Fledermaus did this in Vienna in the 1870s; Jerome Kern's Show Boat did it for Broadway musicals of the 1920s; and the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album served this purpose for the era of psychedelic music in the 1960s. Saturday Night Fever, although hardly as prodigious an artistic achievement as those precursors, was precisely that kind of musical phenomenon for the second half of the '70s -- ironically, at the time before its release, the disco boom had seemingly run its course, primarily in Europe, and was confined mostly to black culture and the gay underground in America."

The Trammps - Disco Inferno ( Live @ The Midnight Special 1976 )

The Trammps was an American disco band, who were based in Philadelphia and were one of the first disco bands. The band's first major success was with their 1972 cover version of "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart". The first disco track they released was "Love Epidemic" in 1973. However, they are best known for their 1976 Grammy winning song, "Disco Inferno". The music journalist, Ron Wynn, noted "the Trammps' prowess can't be measured by chart popularity; Ellis' booming, joyous vocals brilliantly championed the celebratory fervor and atmosphere that made disco both loved and hated among music fans."
