PLEASE READ INFO... Anne Boleyn's marriage to the mercurial Henry VIII is threatened by the presence of the sweetly cunning Jane Seymour. Some of you might have remembered that back when I used to make Tudor vids, I did a video to the same song, using Bessie Blount as Jane Seymour. Well, now that Jane has been featured in the show, I finally decided to remake it because I couldnt get it off my mind. Obviously, those who are familiar with the series will notice that I only used Season 2's Anita Briem as Jane and failed to incorporate Annabelle Wallis, the replacement in Season 3. The reason, selfishly, is because I absolutely adored Annabelle's Jane and couldnt bear to malign her character on the show, whereas Anita, though indescribably beautiful, played a very sneaky and conniving Jane. Admittedly, period costuming is a passion of mine and there are simply too many gowns to count on this show. But I have to say, Anne's dazzle the most. I'd be curious to hear your favorites so stop by and leave a comment! Although The Tudors' costume designer did meet some criticism for her anachronistic choice of outfits - ranging from Italian Renaissance to Victorian England - it cannot be argued that the Anne Boleyn [played by the outstanding Natalie Dormer] has a fashion sense to die for. Ironically enough, the historical Anne Boleyn was similarly known as the "IT" girl of her contemporaries - returning to the England from the glamourous French court of Francis I as a young girl, she introduced a sophisticated flair and an elegant sense of style through her Parisian wardrobe. She became famous throughout the English court for her "Frenchified" manner of dressing, introducing among other things, the rounded half-moon crescent of the French hood to replace the severe gables of the Spaniards, as well as an elaborate trick for designing long billowing sleeves to augment her gowns [which her detractors suggested were deliberately meant to disguise a birth defect on her left hand. Her trademark Boleyn necklace, interplayed with simple velvet bands also became a signature look for Anne, accentuating that long neck which would become more famous than she could ever anticipate. King Henry VIII was truly devastated by the wanton behaviour of his "Rose without a thorn". He banned Catherine Howard from his presence and ordered her arrest. Catherine Howard was arrested at Hampton Court for adultery and tried in vain to reach the King. She was dragged screaming back to her apartments. The lovers of Catherine Howard were executed and she passed their gruesome, impaled heads on London Bridge on her way to Traitor's gate, the entry to the Tower of London. Catherine asked William Kingston for a block so that she could practise her execution. Catherine Howard eventually admitted the affair with Thomas Culpepper and was found guilty of adultery and treason. Henry Mannox, Francis Dereham and Thomas Culpepper were all tortured and then executed. The young Queen asked for a block so she could practise laying her head on it. The Beheading of Catherine Howard took place on February 13th, 1542 . Poor , sweet foolish Catherine Howard, the Queen of England, was going to be deliberately killed by execution. Death by the axe was a terrifying prospect. The executioners often took several blows of the axe before the head was finally severed. The execution of Queen Catherine Howard was conducted at the Tower of London and witnessed by members of the court. Legend has it that Catherine's last words were: "I die a queen, but would rather die the wife of Culpepper."

Marie Antoinette + The Tudors? What could be better? Pretty self-explanatory. I took the liberty of creating an opening credit sequence for the film Marie Antoinette, as if it had been a televised series like the Showtime hit, The Tudors. I love lavish period pieces and I think the audio seems to fit well for both the Tudor and Hapsburg/Bourbon monarchs. Admittedly, I wasnt really a fan of Marie Antoinette when I first saw the film, but I am in love with the gorgeous costumes and lavish scenery. Although I sometimes find Sofia's editing choppy, the dialogue a bit too modernized, the 80's songs a bit out of place and scenes of Marie lolling in the grass or walking down stairs a little drawn out and repetitive, I still view this movie as a work of art in regards to its visuals.
