Turbo Outrun - Arcade

Turbo Out Run (c) 1989 Sega. Turbo Outrun echews the forked-road, variable route game-play of it's illustrious older brother, and instead opts for a standard set route point-to-point approach. There are several new game-play additions, however, which help to separate TOR from the original game and give it its own identity. Firstly; there's the 'Turbo' of the title which is, obviously, a turbo boost that greatly increases the car's speed when engaged. It must be used sparingly, however, as overuse will cause the engine to overheat, rendering the turbo useless until such time as the engine has cooled (this is indicated by an on-screen 'overheat' meter). Weather effects are another new game-play addition, with snow, rain etc. making driving conditions very tricky. One final new feature is the ability to upgrade your car at the end of each stage; this can be a turbo boost, new engine, better tires etc. Main CPU : (2x) 68000 (@ 12.5 Mhz) Sound CPU : Z80 (@ 4 Mhz) Sound Chips : YM2151 (@ 4 Mhz), Sega (@ 4 Mhz) Screen orientation : Horizontal Video resolution : 320 x 224 pixels Screen refresh : 60.00 Hz Palette colors : 12288 The catchy music that plays during the ''car upgrade'' section is the same music used in the upgrade section of Sega's "Hot Rod" game and also the shop section of their 1986 shoot-em-up, "Fantasy Zone". Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Super Sonic Team : GSM SEGA 3 - PCCB-00009) on 10/21/1989. - SERIES - 1 ...

Turbo OutRun, 1989 (MAME)

Here's a pseudo sequel to Outrun, the classic arcade hit. I'm probably one of the few who prefers this title a little more than its predecessor. There are 16 stages and unlike the original, they don't branch out and you race against a rival driving a porsche 959.

Turbo Out Run (FM Towns Marty)

Follow through the first several minutes of Turbo Out Run for the FM Town and FM Towns Marty. Turbo Out Run is an overall decent port of the Sega arcade original, yet with an added CD soundtrack. The game is the first in the series that allows players to "boost" or turbo through traffic if the engine is cool enough, race against a rival, and it also allows players to upgrade their vehicle at the end of each leg of the race. To the sequel's detriment, however, there are no longer any forks in the road that allow players to go to increasingly difficult or easier tracks. An awful port of an classic Sega arcade game (that only have been recently emulated on MAME) but more popular at home. Got to the 7th Stage before losing (was 8th but I forgot to record the sound, so I had to do it again). Publisher: Sega Developer: Tiertex* * Yes Youtube poop fans, they are real.

After reviewing the atari St version of this game (check my other videos), i review the Spectrum 128k Version aswell. There are similarties to the spectrum and atari st version - notably the music and sound fx. Still a good conversion of a wicked coin op machine

Turbo Outrun [Atari ST] gameplay

Turbo Outrun gameplay recorded with an Atari STE (the game does not use any enhancements of STE though) using Micomsoft's SC-500N1 capture card (and Xsync-1). This is a very awful conversion of the arcade original by Sega, extremly jerky framerate, wimpy music and long loading times... also the disk swapping is very annoying :-/ The graphics is well drawn at least.

Magical sound shower (Turbo Outrun) -live

Live from May 2011, part of my bachelors degree concert at Pop&Jazz Conservatory, Helsinki, Finland. Magical Sound Shower, from OutRun -series, composed by Hiroshi Kawaguchi. The arrangement was done by me, Janne Lassila. Mixing of this song was hard, the keyboards were too loud and it turns out that trumpets mixed a bit too good with saxophone. Well, next time I'll arrange it a bit more....

TURBO OUTRUN (C64 - FULL GAME)

Zeus presents Turbo Outrun (un-emulated) for the C64. A true classic from the golden era of C64gaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game. For me probably the best conversion out of all the 8 & 16bit machines, with nice game play and great music. Always found the car far too fat for the road, that goes for the other versions too, it's a problem that originates from the arcade version. Hope all you C64 fans enjoy this upload. Please note that NONE of my game uploads are pc emulators or emulated in any way whatsoever. I am actually playing this on my dedicated C64, that way you know you are watching the real thing. Emulators and longplays cannot be taken too seriously as most of them are not 100% faithfull to the original game and they are usually tooled up (inluding using other trick devices such as savestates) meaning a game is made to look alot easier and gives a false impression of how difficult the game really is and also most of them don't include the loading screens or much of the game title music. Don't accept fakes! My uploads are 100% original and un-emulated! Switch to 480p for best video quality and feel free to leave comments on my channel and vid's. Keeping the memory of the C64 and it's cool games alive!!!

Zeus presents Turbo Outrun 128k (un-emulated) for the zx spectrum. A true classic (in it's own right) from the golden era of spectrumgaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game. Well here we have the Spectrum version of Turbo Outrun and it runs quite nice with cheerfull tunes, same problem as the arcade version,...car too fat for road lanes! I was always more of a Speccy lad back in the day but i have to say that I feel the C64 version beats all of the other format versions. Hope all you Spectrum fans enjoy this upload. Please note that NONE of my game uploads are pc emulators or emulated in any way whatsoever. Sega Mega Drive: Turbo Outrun

www.Insert-Disk.com proudly presents "Turbo Outrun" for the Sega Mega Drive Opening title sequence and a complete stage 1. Classic Sega racing today. Turbo Outrun is a game that I remember very well from my childhood. Adapted from the arcade version you must race your way across the USA reaching check points at various key cities. This time though you have the added challenge of police to avoid and also a Turbo button that you can utilise. The game starts off fairly easy but gets very tricky. There's lots of blind hills and tight corners, so using the Turbo is both simultaneously useful and dangerous. Between legs of the race you have the option of upgrading your car, I find that I need the high performance tyres before anything else otherwise i'm off the road in seconds with the powerful engine upgrade. This is a classic game and still plays well even today. Well done Sega, this is a graet retro game and it's no wonder it is a yard stick for the driving genre.
