In this exclusive interview, get behind the hyperbole and exaggeration and meet the man himself. "I am a freedom fighter not a terrorist", proclaims Joseph Kony. "We are fighting for total democracy." It's a surprising statement from a man widely believed to be a mad fantasist fighting for God. But what emerges from this remarkable encounter is a picture of a man - and a situation - far more complex than you may have been lead to believe. June 2006

Real Uganda 2012 - No Kony 2012

Uganda, officially the Republic of Uganda, is a landlocked country in East Africa. Uganda is also known as the "Pearl of Africa". It is bordered on the east by Kenya, on the north by Sudan, on the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the southwest by Rwanda, and on the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, which is also bordered by Kenya and Tanzania. Uganda takes its name from the Buganda kingdom, which encompassed a portion of the south of the country including the capital Kampala. The people of Uganda were hunter-gatherers until 1700 to 2300 years ago, when Bantu-speaking populations migrated to the southern parts of the country.[4] Uganda gained independence from Britain on 9 October 1962. The official languages are English and Swahili, although multiple other languages are spoken in the country. It is a member of the African Union, the Commonwealth of Nations, Organisation of the Islamic Conference and East African Community.

Kony 2012: Uganda Govt reacts to video

www.ntvuganda.co.ug The ugandan government has this evening reacted to the new video titled Kony 2012 released by invisible children, a US charity that seeks to raise the plight of children under the under the hands of the LRA leader joseph Kony. In a statement from the Uganda media centre, the government said it welcomed efforts that could contribute towards the arrest of Kony and elimination of LRA. The statement however cautioned that the latest campaign should not be misinterpreted to mean either Kony or LRA were active in Uganda.
Uganda speaks in response to Kony2012

Invisible Children's Kony2012 video brought infamy to Central Africa's rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and its leader, Joseph Kony. But many have criticised the campaign for ignoring voices from people on the ground. A group of Ugandan bloggers and filmmakers, working under the collective "Uganda Speaks", have now released their own film online looking at the LRA and its impact from their perspective - a move that aims to bring local voices to the debate. Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb reports from northern Uganda.

Hunting Kony - Uganda

KONY2012 filmmaker buckles under media spotlight To see more go to www.youtube.com Follow us on Facebook (goo.gl or Twitter (www.twitter.com Reporter Aaron Lewis has been tracking Kony for years. The first Western journalist allowed to join the Ugandan army on the hunt, he revisits his journey in light of the controversial Kony2012 sensation. The UPDF has been hunting Joseph Kony since long before the notorious KONY 2012 video. According to Captain Mohammed, "I have always been after him since 1986, when Kony's offensive began". Thought to be only a day behind Africa's most wanted criminal, they encounter his recent victims on a regular basis. Kony seems to know whenever the men are gaining ground and goes to great lengths to conceal his trail: "the only power he has left is the ability to escape". He's certainly a difficult man to find but can a handful of US advisers or the political will of 100 million Western viewers make the difference? Kony 2012 Video is Misleading

In response to Kony 2012 video made by InvisibleChildren, I do not think the LRA or Kony is good and I do not support them. I do believe justice should be served in that case. However, I do not believe US Military intervention is necessary and will cause more harm than good. I believe in the connection between oil & AFRICOM as well as trade. I believe the African governments have the power and ability to find Kony and arrest him on their own as well as disarm the LRA. I am simply promoting the education one should do before they believe everything they see. The Kony 2012 Video is not the only information you should rely on. Research.
