The UN envoys on human rights in Myanmar and North Korea are also set to brief the press. Human rights experts held briefings at UN headquarters today (22 October) on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, Myanmar, and North Korea, as well as on human rights abuses by international corporations and other businesses. The Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Richard Falk told the General Assembly committee dealing with social and humanitarian issues, also known as the Third Committee, that the Goldstone report on the conflict in Gaza challenges the United Nations as never before to implement fully documented findings on the commission of war crimes primarily by Israel, but also by Hamas during Operation Cast Lead.
