Heading from floor 14 to the lower ground floor of the University of Sheffield's Arts Tower, Sheffield, in England. The paternoster lift is one of just a handful still operating in Europe. Since filming this video, the Arts Tower has been closed for an extensive refurbishment. Various academic departments (including architecture) are schedule to return for the 2011/2 academic year. My understanding is that the paternoster is a feature of the listed building, and therefore has had to be preserved, but I'd appreciated confirmation of its current status.

The University of Sheffield Physics and Astronomy department presents: The Edge of Space project; a fourth-year MPhys project supervised by Professor Vik Dhillon, where a high-altitude balloon is launched carrying a scientific payload taking measurements of atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity and acceleration.
