The game is VVVVVV, an excellent platformer which costs $5 cdn. One of the best platformers I've played, for sure, and I have played many. It is extremely hard, but charming and with very unique and well thought out level design. If you haven't played this, you must! It took me 141 deaths to get the trinket.

This is "Positive Force" from "PPPPPP - The VVVVVV Soundtrack". The game was made by Terry Cavanagh, the music composed by Magnus Pålsson aka SoulEye: www.youtube.com VVVVVV is an indie retro platformer in which you don't jump, but instead reverse gravity, with visuals reminiscent of the Commodore 64 era. The soundtrack, called PPPPPP, is composed in a corresponding chiptune style and often cited as a favorite among 2010 game soundtracks, and I can only concur - it is a truly modern re-imagining of chiptune music. For me, the most intruiging thing about it is its complexity. The pieces have so many different layers and musical ideas going on at the same time without ever getting muddy or confusing. Although laden with so many patterns and melodies, they never lose their clarity, and that is very attractive and sets it apart from all other chiptune music I have heard before. This recording was done back in November. It has its fair share of flaws and that grand had surely seen better days before. I've done an improved digital recording shortly after that which you can find on the newly released PPPPPP Remix/Arrange Album („PPPPPPowerup!") to which I also contributed another arrangement. VVVVVV is a really cool modern game in the retro style. It's a sort of puzzle platformer with a simple yet brilliant gravity reversing mechanic. The soundtrack is brilliant and also has a great retro feel to it. I usually don't like platform games this difficult, but the frequent check points keep it from becoming too difficult even for me. If you like platformers, I highly recommend this one. This game was very generously gifted to me by InsertDiskB for my new Pseudo-Retro series, in which it fits perfectly. This is "Presenting VVVVVV" from "PPPPPP - The VVVVVV Soundtrack". The game was made by Terry Cavanagh, the music composed by Magnus Pålsson aka SoulEye: www.youtube.com An enhanced digital recording of this with sounds from Synthogy Ivory (rendered by TehIshter, many thanks again!) can be found on the remix CD of the soundtrack, "PPPPPPowerup!", to which I had also contributed two other arrangements. You can buy that album as well as the original soundtrack on SoulEye's website: www.souleye.se This was recorded in December last year, and now that there was recently a big update to the game, I thought I could just upload this now. This piece is the title screen music and it certainly stands out from the rest of the soundtrack, in that it is very contemplative and downright melancholic, and it stands in a stark contrast to the very upbeat and energetic music in the rest of the actual game. I also slowed it down significantly and added a lot of chords. I can honestly say that no other soundtrack or game has inspired me so much in the past few years as this one has, and I shall hope to do more arrangements of it in the future. I actually have really big dreams for it. Let's see how things go.

It's a great game, I would recommend trying it out, and the soundtrack is fabulous. The sheet music I am playing from is more of a 'guide' that I transcribed myself. I'm happy to share it, but don't take it literally, you'll need to 'arrange' it so that the music sounds decent.
