COMBO ORGAN - Yamaha YC-20 & Gem Sprinter 49
Quick demo i've made with my beloved, rare combo organs. The little black one is a GEM sprinter 49 (made in italy). The ivory coloured organ is a Yamaha YC-20. The effects i have used in this song are reverb, chrous and amplitube 3 (that's a virtual guitar amp). Please don't mind the bad playing and bad video quality. It's just a demo i've made because there wasn't any video on youtube of the GEM sprinter 49. I've made this very quick. And accidently the video resolution was at the lowest possible on my camera. When i have more time, i will record better videos of this great instruments. share your comments please!

Two crazy guys, 3 wild combo organs, 1 sweet fall day!
Paul Haugen of Right hook music and Bob Weigel of Sound Doctorin' (www.sounddoctorin.com) mess around and talk about three classic combo organs. The Fast 5, peak of the 'fast' series of 1968 is a great find. The Whitehall 6640 combo organ is another fairly rare find. One of the coolest looking little organs with the red plastic top (not shatterproof as Paul found out on a previous shipment of one of these which I had to do a resin repair on. ) and great sounding! This one is complete and in near mint shape. The Fender starmaster is extremely rare. These apparently never went into actual production. They were made by Porto in Italy and Fender was considering them as a product to replace the Contempo. Not sure what happened but there are a couple oddities about these. The bass controls are wired backwards for one. And there is no way to tell any difference in the vibrato speed near as I can tell. Also the percussion inst. feature is kind of a niche weird thing. You can create the speed of a marimba kind of noise I guess you'd call it that goes when you are playing even when no tabs are selected. But it also modulates some of the tabs. It has some very rich sounds. There are two banks of switches and you can A OR B them..or A+B them. Great for a quick 'patch' change. I modified the LFO circuit on the ones I have to make it so you can hear a difference Easy enough to swap back if someone wants to restore it to what it was for historical value. ...since someone said there were <b>...</b>

CRB DIamond 700 and Scandalli combo Organs!
Bob Weigel of www.sounddoctorin.com and Paul Haugen of Right Hook Music give repair details, feature elaboration and musical manipulation and misrepresentation of two rare Combo Organs. The Scandali I believe was produced in 1970 from research on Combo organ Heaven's note about Montgomery Wards catalog. The Red dual manual machine appears to be the Diamond 700 with a different color scheme as also shown on that site. These are apparently so rare that no other details are found there aside from that photo. Enjoy!

RARE Peavey Combo organ ! (Teisco dual manual mystery!)
Bob Weigel (www.sounddoctorin.com) and Paul Haugen detail and demonstrate possibly the rarest machine we've encountered to date. Possibly a prototype. The techs at Peavey are completely unaware that any such thing ever existed. Of course this would have been from the very early days of the company. With the knobs that strongly resemble some used on early peavey amps, and the fact that it departs from the cosmetics of other Teisco's (which obviously was the manufacturer), the lack of a schematic diagram inside and only some japanese print on the right of the keyboard frame aside from the peavey label on the back, would tend to lead us to think that this was made by Teisco for Peavey. In their early days I'm sure they probably considered marketing some keyboard products from Teisco and this was a prototype possibly constructed for that purpose. Nobody has seen one. No hits on search engine. Nothing. Yet I have this strange memory of seeing one of these possibly as a child. Something looked familiar about it. I...don't....know.

Fender Starmaster Organ Part 1

Fender Contempo Organ inside and out....way out...
Bob Weigel of www.sounddoctorin.com and Paul Haugen of right hook music show some repair details and demonstrate the classic Fender Contempo combo Organ. Very rich bass tone and presets with three volume boost tabs per voicing. Paul demonstrates his ability to continue playing while audience tosses snow ball at him and dogs bark. I've seen estimates of a couple thousand of these organs being produced and this one has serial of a later issue. It is very fortunate to live again considering the initial condition.

Yamaha YC-25 Combo Organ (For Sale)
A quick run through a few instrumental reggae classics (bum notes and all), to demonstrate my newly acquired Yamaha YC-25 organ...This is the double manual version, these organs were introduced in the late 60's and were used by Sly Stone & Sun Ra to name but two. It is ideal for reggae/ska, and can also emulate the vox continental and farfisa organs quite nicely with a bit of manipulation When this organ has been serviced and the swell pedal re-attached it will be for sale on ebay.

Analog Recording Equipment (Vintage Stuff)
This video was shot at my friend's (wado1942) old project studio. He purchased a new house and was in the end of the moving process as this video was shot. The recorder is a Ampex AG440 1/2" 4-track. There is also an old Vox Continental which was a little temperamental, as you will see in the video. For those of you interested the camera used to shoot the video was a Nikon D-3100. The audio was captured entirely with the camera mic. No processing was done to the video. It is taken straight from the camera and cut with Final Cut Pro.

Vintage Equipment Virtual Tracks
Another followup video to the "Looking Through Your Eye" song progression. In these current times, we have unlimited takes in the form of virtual tracks. I wanted to try an experiment for a tape-based equivalent. Video was shot on a Canon A540. Audio was captured with the internal microphones of a Zoom H4 except during the mix replay, which had a direct line from the board mixed with the A540's mic.

Viscount Imperial Intercontinental Organ
(Preface: Pardon the many interruptions. I kept having interconnect problems that could cause defeat switches not to work etc. so I said some things twice etc.) The Viscount version of the "Intercontinental" organ I see is very similar on the face to the GEM. From the diagrams I'm seeing, the GEM used transistor dividers whereas the Viscount from 1974 it appears from the tag inside used the SAJ110 divider chip of that era. This is the first of these to really be featured on the internet near as we can tell. No diagrams of this version seem to be available. Perhaps there are some similarities though in the GEM whose diagrams are available from the Combo Organ group on yahoo I believe still. Ask Robert there if you can't find them. BUT this organ at least seems to add the 5-1/3' selection over the GEM also. The one photo of the GEM on combo organ heaven isn't sufficient to see all the details. Anyway enjoy! (PS we do have the bass pedals for this thing also but I didn't show them in the video. We'll do a photo shoot though and submit it to combo organ heaven).
