Cafferty File: Wall Street Journal Blasts John McCain

From the Cafferty file: When you graduate 894th out of a class of 899, eventually it will show up. And John McCains mediocre performance at the Naval Academy is showing up big time this week in his total lack of understanding of the nations financial crisis. He told us he didnt know much about the economy now hes proving it. So much so that the Wall Street Journal, perhaps Americas leading financial publication, is blasting McCain over what its editorial board sees as inaccurate and, unpresidential comments about the crisis in Americas financial system. If youre a Republican running for president of the United States and the Wall Street Journal basically says youre an incompetent buffoon, youre in serious trouble. Specifically the paper pointed to comments McCain made yesterday about SEC Chair Christopher Cox. McCain pointed the finger at Cox and said if he were president, hed fire him for betraying the publics trust. The Wall Street Journal called that assault both false and deeply unfair. The Journal also said, In a crisis voters want steady, calm leadership not easy, misleading answers that will do nothing to help. Heres my question to you: What does it mean when the Wall Street Journal slams Mcain on the economy? Interested to know which ones made it on air? Bob writes: I dont think so. Im not going to panic. I think the worst thing a voter can do right now is vote the financial crisis. Right now Im going to vote the future not the present. I hope that makes sense ...

Alex details New Bio ID Card Bill in WSJ "Required" for All Americans on The Alex Jones Show

ID Card for Workers Is at Center of Immigration Plan By LAURA MECKLER Customs and Border Protection agent Jesus Gomez checks a passport at the vehicle crossing at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in California. Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain. News Hub: Worker ID Card Spurs Controversy 3:27 Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill are proposing a new national biometric ID card that would be required of all US workers. WSJ's Laura Meckler explains the proposal and the objections from privacy advocates. Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal US workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker. The ID card plan is one of several steps advocates of an immigration overhaul are taking to address concerns that have defeated similar bills in the past. The uphill effort to pass a bill is being led by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D., NY) and Lindsey Graham (R., SC), who plan to meet with President Barack Obama as soon as this week to update him on their work. An administration official said the White House had no position on the biometric card. "It's the nub of solving the immigration dilemma politically speaking," Mr ...

Latin America Needs Free Trade & Drug Legalization: Q&A with WSJ's Mary Anastasia O'Grady

In the 1990s, it seemed as if individual rights, deregulation, free trade, and sound currency were taking hold in Latin America, a region finally on the rise after decades of coups, repression, and violence. But in the 21st century, left-wing strongmen have made a comeback: Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, Bolivia's Evo Morales, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, Ecuador's Rafael Correa. Other countries in the region are headed in the wrong direction. Authoritarianism has been on the rise in Argentina ever since the economy collapsed (yet again) in 2002. Mexico's violent drug war is escalating. In Cuba, the transfer of power from one Castro brother to the other hasn't helped the economy or stopped human rights abuses. What went wrong? Reason.tv's Nick Gillespie sat down with Mary Anastasia O'Grady, a member of the Wall Street Journal's Editorial Board and a Journal columnist specializing in Latin America, to talk about the outlook for the region - and how free trade and drug legalization would go a long way to solving Latin America's problems. Approximately 6 minutes. Produced and shot by Jim Epstein and Adam Jensen. Edited by Epstein and Joshua Swain. Mitt Romney Ripped By Wall Street Journal

An editorial in the Wall Street Journal was harshly critical of 2012 presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. Cenk Uygur breaks it down. Subscribe: bit.ly TYT Mobile: bit.ly On Facebook: www.facebook.com On Twitter: twitter.com www.theyoungturks.com FREE Movies(!): www.netflix.com Read Ana's blog and subscribe at: www.examiner.com Read Cenk's Blog: www.huffingtonpost.com The Wall Street Journal's editorial board is painting Mitt Romney as a "compromised and not credible" candidate for president, a harsh blow from the conservative mainstay just hours before Romney delivers a major health care speech. Continue Reading "The health reform Mr. Romney passed in 2006 as Massachusetts Governor was the prototype for President Obama's version and gave national health care a huge political boost," the paper says in an editorial this morning. "Mr. Romney now claims ObamaCare should be repealed, but his failure to explain his own role or admit any errors suggests serious flaws both in his candidacy and as a potential President." Romney is set to address deep-seated conservative skepticism toward the state health care law he enacted during his speech in Michigan today, while also outlining his plans to repeal the federal law. His White House hopes could hinge on a satisfactory tight-rope walk on the issue. "Like Mr. Obama's reform, RomneyCare was predicated on the illusion that insurance would be less expensive if everyone were covered," the Journal write. Inside Fukushima Evacuation Zone 1

source blogs.wsj.com The 20 kilometers of land that circles the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has become a mysterious place ever since the government drew a border ringing the plant soon after the March 11 disaster, marking it as a must-leave, no-go exclusion zone nearly a month ago. Japanese police, Self-Defense Force troops and US military started searching for bodies with the 10 km radius for the first time Thursday. A brief segment aired on state-owned broadcaster NHK last week showed members of Japan's Self-Defense Forces knocking on doors of the few residents who decided to stay behind in emptied towns. An anonymous user recently generated buzz on an online message board when he said he hadn't left his house which sits about 10 kilometers from the plant. It was posted on April Fool's Day. But now a visible document of what lies within the 20 kilometer zone, shot by a pair of Japanese online TV journalists, has been uploaded on YouTube (see above). Tetsuo Jimbo, founder of Video News Network, a TV broadcasting website, and a colleague ventured into the area on Sunday. Before setting out, Mr. Jimbo consulted a radiation expert, who advised he spend a maximum of two hours in the zone. The 49-year-old journalist stayed for two and a half. A face mask -- the kind worn to fend off hay fever -- was his only protective gear. He admits he and his colleague got "kind of scared" when a host of large dump trucks drove by and the drivers were covered in what ...

'US media-numbed, bankers pocket $144 billion bonus'

While millions of Americans are unemployed and the national debt is soaring, it seems top financial executives are far from feeling the pinch. A recent Wall Street Journal survey estimates they'll receive a staggering $144 billion dollars in compensation and benefits this year. This amount is equal to the US stimulus package approved by Congress in 2008. Trend forecaster Gerald Celente says Americans are failing to react to the payouts, because the financiers' fanbase in the mainstream media is distracting public opinion.
