The orchestral accompaniment is that of the famous Italian film composer Ennio Morricone's own orchestra and the music was composed and produced by him. Hayley Westenra herself wrote the lyrics. "May It Be" is a track from the 2005 album, "Odyssey", by Hayley Westenra. The album was released on Decca Music Group and was produced by Giles Martin. The album was Westenra's second international release, following 2003's "Pure". The album peaked at #10 on the UK Albums chart and #3 on the US Billboard Classical Album Chart. The 16-track UK original release is my preferred version of the album. This live version of "May It Be" is taken from the August 2004 "Hayley Westenra - Live from New Zealand" concert from the St. James Theater in Wellington, New Zealand. Recorded soon after the then seventeen year old Westenra's acclaimed worldwide tour and broadcast on America's PBS "Great Performances" television series, the concert is a mix of pop, classical and traditional Maori favorites and features guest artists including baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, the Wellington Cathedral Choir, younger sister Sophie Westenra, and the Te Orowa Maori Dance Group. The concert was directed by David Horn. The concert (with some great bonus extras) is available on DVD from Decca Music. "May It Be" was written by Enya and originally released as a single by her in 2001.
