Noise rock describes one variety of post-punk rock music that became prominent in the 1980s. Noise rock makes use of the typical instrumentation and iconography of rock, but incorporates atonality and especially dissonance, and also frequently discards usual songwriting conventions. Soul-Crusher was released in November 1987 on LP under White Zombie's own label "Silent Explosion". In 1988, the album was adopted and re-edited by Caroline Records.
