Levi LaVallee's World Record Snowmobile Jump - Red Bull New Year No Limits 2010
Levi LaVallee jumped an incredible 361 feet while preparing for his Red Bull New Year No Limits world record snowmobile distance jump in San Diego. Unfortunately, Levi was injured shortly thereafter and as a result, the December 31 event has been canceled. But as the 361-foot jump eclipsed the existing record by 60 feet, it will be submitted for world record certification. Levi expects to make a full recovery. RedBullNewYearNoLimits.com

Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak World Record Attempt
On June 27, 2010, Rhys Millen attempted to beat the current "Unlimited Class" World Record of 10:01.408 at the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the "Race to the Clouds." For 10 years, it has been Rhys' dream to break the 10-minute barrier and this year he hoped to capture the elusive record and return it to the Millen name. This is look at his run and the challenges he faced in his custom built Genesis PM580: a 1850 pound, 750 horse power V6 designed specifically to conquer the 156 turns of this 12.52 mile course (of which this year, half is pavement) that begins at 9390 feet and finishes at the 14110 foot summit. The team from the recently launched Gizmodo UK took on their US counterparts in a transatlantic tech challenge for Guinness World Records Day. With a time of 4.7 seconds to beat, both offices went about trying to set a new benchmark for the fastest time to type the alphabet on an iPad. Despite a sterling effort from Editor Kat Hannaford and News Editor Sam Gibbs in the UK, the US earned the bragging rights with video editor Woody Allen Jang clocking an incredible, world-record-setting time of 3.93 seconds.
