He spent 22 years in prison after being released in 1988. With the help of a young boy from Toronto and his adopted family protesters drew attention to his struggle for justice. Ruben sent a copy of his book 'The 16th Round' to Bob Dylan who wrote this song Hurricane. Bob Dylan performed the song many times while Ruben was incarcerated including at a prison.
