Classic Game Room reviews JAGUAR XJ220 for Sega CD from 1993, a racing game where you drive the exotic supercar in a variety of races all over the world! The Jaguar XJ-220 was a competing vehicle to the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 (ironically, both of those cars were in Test Drive II The Duel). It may not have sold well due to it's obscene price tag and sales issues but it does star in its very own video game on the Sega Genesis add-on, the Sega CD (or Mega CD). Jaguar XJ220 is an Out Run style driving game with good controls and excellent 16-bit graphics that, like a real Jaguar, suffers from a few issues that prevent it from being great. Bizarre cornering and bland track design make this game less exciting than it could be yet it remains playable and fun. The car featured is the eponymous Jaguar. The game takes place in a series of championship races across 12 different countries, with three races in each. The player starts in England but must decide which country to race in next, which costs the team various amounts. The player can also choose to repair damage to the car. One feature in this game which was quite unique at that time was that you could create your own track, using the edit mode within the game. The game also featured a two player mode similar to the Lotus challenge games. Jaguar XJ220 received good reviews. Amiga Action rated the game 98% and praised the intuitive gameplay and the inclusion of a track editor. CU Amiga noted that the quantity of detail that is in the game sets it apart from other racing games. Detail such as options, control using the mouse or joystick, track editor and manual or automatic gears. The XJ220 had potential to be a very successful supercar, but it was a shame. He was very quick and nice, but some clients who had given money to the exotic version with V12 engine refused to surrender and buy it. Everything had a very good start, the concept has generated enthusiasm when it was released in 1988. Conceived as a touring car races capable of participating in Group B (which had produced the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40), the XJ 220 had a V12 engine of 520 hp, AWD and audacious scissor doors. In December 1990, Jaguar had set a price of US$ 536000 and quickly gathered 1500 deposits of US$ 92500 each. She returned all except 350, which was the number of XJ 220s that had planned to build. Group B ended, but the XJ 220 survived in the way that Jaguar believed to be easier to sell. The XJ 220 series ended in June 1992 as a two-seater coupe Rear-engine, and look similar to the original. But he had a twin turbo 3.5-liter V6 and 542 hp, rear wheel drive, steering and conventional doors. He was quiet, comfortable and very fast - though not reaching the 220 mph (354 km / h) which gave the name surely going 340 km / h. In the early days of the company, certain Jaguar employees had created an informal group they called "The Saturday Club" (so-named because they would meet after-hours and on weekends to work on unofficial pet-projects). In the 1980s, Jaguar's chief-engineer Jim Randle, as part of that group, began work on what he saw as competition for cars like the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959. He envisioned what was essentially an updated XJ13 - a lightweight two-seater with a powerful mid-mounted V12 engine. Randle expanded on the idea by settling on all wheel drive for increased traction and better handling and an integral safety-cage so the car could be safely raced at extremely high speeds. From the outset, the intention was to create a vehicle capable of exceeding 320 km/h (200 mph). Mohammed ben Sulayem (born November 12, 1961) is a UAE champion rally driver who lives in Dubai. He has won more FIA regional championships, and more international rallies, than any other racer in history. His premier event has been the FIA Middle-East Rally Championship. Since first winning in 1986, he has gone on to win the event 14 times, never having been defeated.
