YANKEES OFFICIAL THEME SONG

My tribute to the New York Yankees with their official theme song. Here Come the Yankees is the official theme song of the New York Yankees baseball team. It has been the official team anthem since 1967, when it was composed by Bob Bundin and Lou Stallman. Bundin and Stallman were associated at the time with Columbia Records, whose then-owner, the media conglomerate CBS, was also the parent company of the Yankees. It was recorded by the Sid Bass Orchestra and Chorus. Yankee Doodle (Dandy)

Various European countries claim the original of the tune we know as Yankee Doodle, and it was the British who brought the tune to America during the French and Indian Wars. The opening words of the song refer to the fact that when Oliver Cromwell rode horseback into Oxford in 1653 he wore a hat decorated with a single feather fastened by an elaborate knot — an Italian decoration called a "macaroni." The British troops used the song and the term sarcastically, to ridicule the makeshift appearance of the dress of American Colonial troops. When the Revolution began, the Americans adopted the song as a rallying tune, and it was played by fifers and drummers in every camp and battle. At the British surrender at Yorktown on Oct. 19, 1781, the American army band played Yankee Doodle to celebrate the American victory. YANKEE DOODLE LYRICS Yankee Doodle went to town, A-riding on a pony, He stuck a feather in his hat And called it macaroni. (CHORUS) Yankee Doodle, keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy, Mind the music and the step, And with the girls be handy. Father and I went down to camp, Along with Captain Goodin', And there we see the men and boys As thick as hasty puddin'. (CHORUS) And there was Gen'ral Washington, Upon a slapping stallion, A-giving orders to his men- I guess there was a million. (CHORUS) A long war then was fought and won: The British were defeated, And Yankee Doodle was the march To which their troops retreated. (CHORUS)

Boeing 314 Yankee Clipper NC18603

The Yankee Clipper flew across the Atlantic on a route from New York to Southampton. The inaugural trip occurred on June 24, 1939. The Yankee Clipper crashed February 22, 1943 in Lisbon, Portugal. During the war the Yankee was assigned to the navy and allowed to continue passenger service between the United States and Portugal (indirectly serving all Europeans able to reach Lisbon). On February 22, 1943, after completing its 241st transatlantic flight, the Yankee Clipper circled for a landing on the Tagus River in Lisbon, Portugal. Her port wing tip skimmed the water, dug in, and she slammed into the river, breaking into several pieces, and sank inside of 10 minutes. Twenty-four persons died; 15 survived. Among the survivors was singer Jane Froman who was heading a seven-member entertainment troupe for Camp Shows, Inc. Although seriously injured in the accident, Froman recovered enough to continue her singing career and later was the subject of a popular biographical movie, With a Song in My Heart, starring Susan Hayward as Froman. Among those who died were Tamara Drasin, the singer and Broadway actress who had introduced Jerome Kern's song "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." The captain of the Yankee Clipper was blamed for the accident and dismissed by Pan American Airways. The Boeing 314 was a response to Pan American's request for a flying boat with unprecedented range capability that could augment the airline's trans-Pacific Martin M-130. Boeing's bid was successful and Pan ...

Fight Breaks Out At Marlins/Yankees Game

Yankee Fan and Marlin Fan are going toe-to-toe across a stadium aisle railing, when Yankee Fan lands a roundhouse haymaker. Then Marlin Fan's wife jumps in. Then their 10-year-old kid gets his shots in. The Marlin Fan comes unhinged, leaping over the railing and sending Yankee Fan tumbling over a row of seats. Bystanders try to "break up" the fight while simultaneously trying to capture it on film. Security is nowhere to be seen. Lee Greenwood - A Prayer for America: Yankee Stadium Memorial (23 Sept 2001) - God Bless the USA

Lee Greenwood - A Prayer for America: Yankee Stadium Memorial (23 Sept 2001) - God Bless the USA Lee Greenwood sings his patriotic hit song "God Bless the USA" at a memorial service titled "A Prayer for America," held at Yankee Stadium in New York City on 23 Sept 2001. Greenwood appeared with a number of other singers and dignitaries to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. "God Bless the USA" is an American patriotic song written and recorded by country musician Lee Greenwood. The first Greenwood album it appears on is 1984's You've Got a Good Love Comin'. It reached No. 7 on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart when originally released in the spring of 1984, and was played at the 1984 Republican National Convention with President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan in attendance, but the song gained greater prominence during the Gulf War in 1990 and 1991, as a way of boosting morale. The popularity of the song rose sharply since the September 11, 2001 attacks and during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and the song was re-released as a single, re-entering the country music charts at #16. The song was also re-recorded in 2003 and released as "God Bless the USA 2003". The song could often be heard on the radio after those events, and versions of the song are widely distributed online. With the three top five appearances in the top 100 Country Music charts during the song's lifetime (1991, 2001, and 2003), it has become the only song ...
