Another great funk/soul band that doesn't need any introduction, everyone knows and loves the Gap Band! This is from their very first album, "Magicians Holiday", recorded at Shelter Church Studio, located in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1974, produced by Buddy Jones and released on the Shelter Recording Co., Inc. label. The Sly Stone and Stevie Wonder influences are very strong and the sound on this album bears little or no resemblance to the things the three brothers would carve their names in history with some five years later, beginning with "Shake, in 1979. Here, in 1974, the Gap Band consisted of: Lead Vocals: Charles Wilson Background Vocals: Charles Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, Robert Wilson Piano, Clavinet, Organ: Charles Wilson Bass: Robert Wilson Drums: Roscoe Smith Guitar: O'Dell Stokes Trumpet: Ronnie Wilson Trumpet: Tommy Lokey Trombone: Alvin Jones Saxophone: Chris Clayton Congas and Percussions: Carl Scroggins
