To demonstrate the improvements on the 2012 Corvette, Chevrolet has returned to the Nürburgring with the range-topping ZR1. As the video shows, the car - which features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 638 hp (476 kW / 647 PS) and 604 lb-ft (818 Nm) of torque - lapped the legendary Nordschleife in 7:19.63 which is more than six seconds faster than the previous Corvette record that was set back in 2008. To get the improved time, the ZR1 was equipped with the new PDE performance package which has a full-width rear spoiler and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires that are "optimized for warm, dry conditions to increase cornering and handling capability." www.worldcarfans.com

ZR1 hit us in our SRT8 300 while showing off... We got lucky having it on video lol OK, here is how our morning started... We were headed up to Romona to play some paintball. We met up at the driver's house to drop of my car and car pool (thank gawd I didnt drive mine lol). Went to "STARBUCKS' for a coffee for the 30 minute drive. As we left the starbucks we spotted a corvette ZR1 near the Qualcom Stadium. I (the horrible camera man) was excited to see a ZR1. As we were headed down to the I15, we saw the vette behind us. I was immediatly excited that the car was gonna follow us onto the freeway. We decided to get in the carpool lane and let the ZR1 pass us. Thats right, we just want to hear the exhaust and watch him launch. I had my phone ready to watch him pass. Being in front of him, he did not know we had camera or know our intentions. He decided to show off and floor it. We got a little more than what we bargained for. What the camera shows is what I literally saw. We were def not expecting the ZR1 to LOSE control and go right into us. And damnit, I spilled my caramel macchiato, but not denying the jizz part lol ;) Enjoy the video, we are having a blast watching this go viral. Originally gonna grab a wrench stored in the trunk, but IDK from the slamming of the car door and walking to the back he decided to instead go straight up to the ZR1 driver which was bowing his head in disbelief in his car. I think the ZR1 driver kinda knew what was gonna happen and opened his door slowly lol, asking if he was alright. IDK, it cooled things down a bit. I know my buddy went from Imma kill you mode to, "wait, hes a rich mofo that will most likely pay for my shit lol"... and thats exactly what happened. The ZR1 driver stepped out and almost immediately stated, "Dont worry bro, I got bad ass insurance, your gonna be good bro!"... Things actually from that point went to a laughter and awe of the dented up car show on the side of the "SoCal" free way. (ppl r claiming this was northern). The italian guy wasnt even pissed about his car, no reaction to it besides, "How the <b>...</b>

After a couple miles, the driver must have noticed us filming his car because, he then floors the loud peddle and launches, full throttle down a hill, moving at some incredible speeds. This is the most amazing noise I have ever heard, the loudest Corvette I have ever heard, and also one of the most amazing/ beautiful cars I have ever seen. And yes, I scream out of shock when the car accelerates, its kind of funny but its pretty much a fail!
