New aerial footage shows the extent of the destruction. This is Xin'anjiang Reservoir in east China's Zhejiang Province, after days of devastating floods. The images were shot on Wednesday from an ultra-light plane. In Xiaya Township, some villages and farmland have been submerged by floodwater. Located in a bend of Xin'anjiang River, the low-lying areas of Xiaya have been flooded by water released from the Xin'anjiang Reservoir. The water releases were intended to reduce the risk of the reservoir overflowing, and to reduce flooding downstream. This patrol ship is monitoring the situation in and around Xiaya Township. An island in the river is almost completely submerged. The walkways of a flood control project and the first floor of a hotel on the island are also under water.

Wu Ying was charged with "fradulent fundraising" amid allegations that she had been running a Ponzi scheme. But public outcry has grown, with many saying she doesn't deserve to die. On January 18th, Zhejiang Higher People's Court upheld the original death sentence of a one-time business tycoon, Wu Ying, chairman of Zhejiang Dongyang True Colors Group. The verdict has sparked a public outcry calling for a more lenient punishment. In less than a month, a financial crime has evolved into a political incident. Many scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University, as well as some well-known lawyers, have written letters to plead to the Supreme Court. Economist Zhang Weiying says on the China Entrepreneurs Forum, "If Wu Ying is sentenced to death for fundraising, I do not know how many people should be sentenced to death." An Internet poll titled "Wu Ying Does Not Deserve to Die" shows that most voters do not think Wu Ying deserves the death penalty. Wu Ying, a 30-year-old billionaire from Dongyang City, Zhejiang Province, was first arrested in 2007, and then she was charged with "fraud through illegal funding" in 2008. ANCHOR: An empty cargo vessel hit a bridge under construction near the port of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province last Thursday, injuring fourteen crew members. Four crew members were reportedly still missing six days after the accident. STORY: Workers are trying to remove the cargo vessel, code named Qinfeng 128, from underneath the collapsed section of the bridge. Bad weather has hampered rescue efforts by more than 10 salvage ships. The vessel collided with the lower span of the of the Jintang bridge last Thursday, causing a 60-meter long section to crash down on top of her. Within hours of the accident, 16 out of the 20 crew members were rescued with 14 of them suffering minor injuries. The four missing crew members may be trapped inside the ship's cabin when the 3000-ton section of the bridge collapsed on top of it. No workers were on the bridge at the time of the accident. Nine people died in a similar accident last year when a cargo vessel slammed into the Jiujiang bridge in Guandong province.
