This is an arrangement of the famous piece performed by Taraf De Haidouks. This 2 clarinet arrangement is by a former clarinet student of Prof. Zoeter's, Mr. Gergely Kiss. Mr. Kiss writes: this is a free transcription of the first Balkans piece i heard back a couple of years ago. It is by a Roumanian Gypsy composer Sepo Perapaskero and i transcribed it after the performance of Taraf de Haidouks. (well other than the introduction and the quotation from Dinicu's Lark). Beth Stimpert (Prof. of Clarinet at Dickinson College, Clarinetist/Bass Clarinetist Alarm Will Sound) and Garrick Zoeter (Prof. of Clarinet The Shenandoah Conservatory, Clarinetist Antares) and composer/pianist John Orfe play Orf'e Leviathan for 2 Clarinets - December 4, 2011 The composer states: "Leviathan, a concert allegro for two clarinets and piano, takes its title from the sea monster described in the Book of Job, Chapter 41. The immense and fearsome power of the beast are depicted through serpentine figures in the clarinets, percussive thrashings in the piano, and musical figures that are melodically and rhythmically mighty, mercurial, and wild. Leviathan, of course, is also the famous political tract by Thomas Hobbes written in 1651 during the English Civil War. Hobbes advocated a strong central government as a necessary prevention against social chaos - what he called "the war of all against all." There is no political link between my piece and Hobbes' tract; there is a looser connection insofar as aspects of my current harmonic practice resemble aspects of Hobbes' social contract under a sovereign. Leviathan was premiered by David Gresham, Stephen Heinemann and the composer as part of the 2011 Illinois New Music Festival at St. Joseph's Church in Peoria, Illinois.

Impliciet staat het kabbalistische idee centraal dat letters, klanken en woorden scheppende kracht in zich dragen. Museum Flehite staat in het teken van Maria: een sprankelende tentoonstelling en een 'glossy' vertellen het verhaal van Amersfoort als Mariastad en laten zien hoe belangrijk Maria anno nu is. Shenandoah Conservatory Prof. of Clarinet Garrick Zoeter and junior clarinet performance major Caitlin Beare play Theresa Martin's LIVE WIRE for 2 Clarinets. December 2011 The composer writes of the piece: The inspiration for Live Wire is actually the title itself. I thought of it when brainstorming musical ideas for another clarinet duet, Fire and Ice. When researching the title, I learned that "Live Wire" has been a 1992 film, a 1980's teen talk show on Nickelodeon, several computer software programs, a wrestling television program in the late 1990's, an orange-flavored soft drink, a British train operator magazine, a comic book superhero in DC Comics universe, a 2004 album title by a Christian rock band, a 1964 Martha and the Vandellas single, and a song by Mötley Crüe from their 1981 album. I was disappointed that my title was not as original as I thought; nonetheless, its long history proves its success as a flashy and succinct title. I decided the world was finally ready for my version of "Live Wire," this time for two clarinets. The piece has five sections which are introduced individually in the beginning and then return or are juxtaposed simultaneously in the later half of the piece. The inspirations for the music were fallen high-voltage power lines, the fast flow of electricity, alternating and direct currents, escaping sparks of electricity, and dangerous electrical shocks. Clarinetist Garrick Zoeter performs with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jan Wagner - Armstrong Hall Winchester VA September 24, 2011 This work is a clarinet and string orchestra version made by Bill Douglas of the instrumental ballad Goodbye written for Benny Goodman by Gordon Jenkins. Goodman used this work as his broadcast sign off tune. This version was made for clarinetist Richard Stoltzman to play with string quartet as a memorial to Benny Goodman upon Goodman's sudden death in 1986. I have always been a huge fan of Richard Stoltzman, thus I have "borrowed" many of the jazz inflections/additions he plays on his own recording of the work. I performed this work as an encore preceded by the Copland Clarinet Concerto to be posted soon!
