In the concert he conducted Beethoven's Symphony Number 9 with NHK Symphony Orchestra. Zubin Mehta and the orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino was in Tokyo when the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake struck. Just after Zubin had lunch with his wife who had a birthday on that day, they had a big earthquake. After the destructive earthquake, Zubin and the Florence-based Orchestra had to suspended their performance and return home to Italy due to power supply problem in Tokyo. When Zubin left Japan, he said in tears that "it is very sad that we cannot perform for friends in Japan. But I believe we can encourage the victims of the March 11 earthquake in near future and I promise that I will return to Japan". Zubin is a parallel technology entrepreneur with a passion for Open Data, Gov 2.0 and positive social impact. He is the founder of CiviGuard Technologies, RedRock IT Solutions and a partner at ImageWork Technologies. Over the last 10 years he has deployed complex process automation and content management systems for Government agencies and Fortune 500 companies. He is especially familiar with the City of New Yorks agencies such as FDNY, NYPD, Department of Health and the Department of Design and Construction. Over his career he has remained fiercely independent when it comes to technology platform choices having implemented solutions on Java, Open Source, .NET and mobile platforms. He enjoys programming whenever possible with Scala, Erlang, Haskell being current favorites. Zubin was one of 40 students selected to attend the Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University, a institution sponsored by NASA and Google for the development of future technology leaders. Tal-Haim Samnon was born in Tel Aviv in 1986. From the age of six till eighteen he took piano lessons with Mrs. Hanna Shalgi of the Givatayim Music Conservatory. Since then he studied with Prof. Arie Vardi for six years at the Buchman- Mehta school of Music in Tel Aviv University where he did his BA In present time he is in the Artist Diploma program with Prof. Evelyne Brancart at the Jacobs School of Music in Indiana University, Bloomington. Tal graduated from the Thelma- Yellin High School for the Performing Arts and served in the Israeli Army as "distinguished musician", enabling him to pursue his musical career uninterruptedly. Since the age of seven he has performed at many concerts in Israel, Europe and the USA: Germany, Austria, France, Scotland, Holland, Switzerland, Portugal, Florida, Washington DC and in the Carnegie Hall in New-York . He often performs for the Israeli "voice of music" channel, both in live broadcasts and in recordings, and has recorded for the Dutch radio as well. Tal has been awarded the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships since 1998, the "Ronen foundation" scholarships and "Buchman-Heyman foundation" scholarship. PercaeDu, marimba and percussion duo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PercaDu is a young dynamic Israeli percussion duo that has already generated worldwide interest and enthusiasm through their unique style of virtuoso and energetic playing. These days, the ensemble is dividing its activities between Israel and tours in Europe, the US and the Far East both in recitals and as soloists with orchestras. They performed as soloists with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Marin Alsop at the Hollywood Bowl, to name a few. In addition to their flourishing classical music career, PercaDu branched out to Israeli music and world music.
