www.coreybarksdale.com www.coreybarksdale.com New Orleans (pronounced /nuːˈɔliənz, nuːˈɔlənz/ locally and often pronounced /nuːɔrˈliːnz/ in most other US dialects French: La Nouvelle-Orléans is a major United States port city and the largest city in Louisiana. New Orleans is the center of the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area, the largest metro area in the state. New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River. It is coextensive with Orleans Parish, meaning that the boundaries of the city and the parish are the same. It is bounded by the parishes of St. Tammany (north), St. Bernard (east), Plaquemines (south), and Jefferson (south and west). Lake Pontchartrain, part of which is included in the city limits, lies to the north, and Lake Borgne lies to the east. The city is named after Philippe II, Duc d'Orléans, Regent of France, and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It is well known for its multicultural and multilingual heritage, cuisine, architecture, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz), and its annual Mardi Gras and other celebrations and festivals. The city is often referred to as the "most unique" city in America La Nouvelle-Orléans (New Orleans) was founded May 7, 1718, by the French Mississippi Company, under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville on land inhabited by the Chitimacha. It was named for Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, who was Regent of France at the time; his title came from ...

Zydeco Sont Pas Salés

Zydeco Sont Pas Salés (Snapbeans Ain't Salty) Clifton Chenier. Note : French immigrants to US, kept their culture and music, in isolated swamp-lands in Louisiana. They mostly play the fiddle and accordion and speak creol. The music is mixed up with the blues. This is a good example of mixture, which is the strenght of Clifton Cheniers' music, in French Creole language The "Master" is the Creol accordion-player Clifton Chenier. It's a charming and original form of blues, I think. Enjoy. Peace. Urban

The Original Filé Gumbo Zydeco Band "Corinna Corinna"

Filé Gumbo began as a 4 piece, and early on we played a cable access TV show Called NW Jamboree. We thought you might like to see how we sounded early on, especially with Mark Whitman, who played lead guitar with us for about 3 years. Will Peoples is playing bass on a standard guitar, but eventually got an electric bass. Here's a BiG Joe Turner standard, which appears on the band's CD "Let The Good Times Roll"! By the way, we dropped the word 'zydeco' from our name as the northern zydeco dance groups have narrowed their definition of the term, which originally meant something like 'let's boogie', or 'let's party'.

Reproduce: By Andre Thierry & Zydeco magic Videography: By Senorah Sam Sound Production: By Andre Thierry May 02, 2006 IT'S IN A CLASS OF ITS OWN By Senorah Sam Zydeco music and dance is special and the time we spend enjoying it together is special as well. Zydeco thrives because we are enthusiastically supporting the fine and talented musicians that make us feel good when we listen to them play Zydeco music. They are hooked on the music just as much as we are and they are doing an exceptional job of keeping it alive. It's a good feeling music that is infectious. Once you're turned on to the rhythmic sounds of Zydeco you can't let it go. You start looking forward to the dances and celebrating with others your newfound love for the unique form of music that makes you feel good all over. We all come together at the dances to have a good time and without a doubt we have an incredibly good experience. We sway our hips; we hold each others hands and we move in time with the music while our ears take in the harmonious variations of tempos from the accordion. The experience is elevated as the washboard, bass, electric guitar and drum players compliments every note. We openly express our love for Zydeco music and Zydeco dancing. Zydeco is about family. You can never be to young or to old to enjoy the sounds of Zydeco. It's ...

Hey Baby - Buckwheat Zydeco

The Bruce Channel 1962 classic covered by Buckwheat Zydeco, the stage name of Stanley Dural, Jr. born in Louisiana on November 14, 1947, an American accordionist and zydeco musician. He is one of the few zydeco artists to achieve mainstream success. His music group is formally billed as Buckwheat Zydeco and Ils Son Partis Band, but often they perform as merely Buckwheat Zydeco. Buckwheat Zydeco has performed with a large number of famous musicians from Eric Clapton (with whom Buckwheat also recorded) and U2, Los Lobos to The Boston Pops. The band performed at the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics to a worldwide audience of three billion people. Buckwheat performed for President Clinton twice, celebrating both of his inaugurations. -Wikipedia ...Please visit: www.buckwheatzydeco.com/

History of the Zydeco Rubboard - MOJO & The Bayou Gypsies

MOJO & The Bayou Gypsies tell the story of the Zydeco Rubboard (Frottoir) in every performance. Mister MOJO and his best friend, Tee Don Landry (whose daddy made the first Zydeco Rubboard for Clifton Chenier), documented the history of the first Zydeco Rubboard. Tee Don still makes Zydeco Rubboards in the tradition of his daddy. Two of his rubboards are in The Smithsonian. The Zydeco Rubboard is unique to Southwest Louisiana music, and serves as a global icon for Louisiana Culture. To learn more history, visit www.zydecorubboards.com . CORRECTION! This was a LIVE performance, and Mister MOJO mis-stated a fact: There are actually a few more instruments invented in America (eg, steam calliope, monophonic synthesizer, and others). Mister MOJO should have said "the Zydeco Rubboard is one of only a few instruments invented in America". Apologies to other inventors and their fans.
