An Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA), also known as active phased array radar is a type of phased array radar whose transmitter and receiver functions are composed of numerous small solid-state transmit/receive modules (TRMs). AESAs aim their "beam" by broadcasting radio energy that interfere constructively at certain angles in front of the antenna. They improve on the older passive electronically scanned radars by spreading their broadcasts out across a band of frequencies, which makes it very difficult to detect over background noise. HP Compaq 2710p Business Card Scanner Demo
This video demonstration is of the HP Compaq 2710p Business Convertible Tablet PC's Business Card Scanner program. It works OK, as you can see, it took a while for the scanner get into focus. I had a hard time at the beginning trying to figure out what the different pitches in the beeps meant. The highest pitch beeps mean that it is in focus and the lower pitched beeps after mean it is going to take the picture. The tablet has a webcam mode switch on the top of the LCD panel; I think they could have gotten away without needing the switch for macro mode and webchat mode. There is a thin slot on the front of the notebook for sliding the card in. A good thing about this program is if you cannot take the business card someone has, you can still get their information by scanning it into the tablet. This is quite handy! In conclusion, I choose to use the scanner program, even if it is slow, because it exports the information directly into the outlook e-mail client. It is a somewhat laborious process, but eventually I think I will figure out the quickest way to scan the cards I receive.

Pelvic Floor Exercises and The Bits Below the Belt DVD Surgery to treat men with prostate cancer is often followed by months of difficulty controlling urine flow, a condition known as urinary incontinence. But new research suggests that this problem may go away more quickly if the men perform certain exercises to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles. Researchers from the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, found that men who were taught how to perform pelvic floor exercises before and after surgery were more likely to have regained continence three months later. Men Doing Pelvic Exercises Recover Earlier In the current study, the researchers randomly assigned 38 men scheduled for radical prostatectomy to either a treatment group or a control group. The men in the treatment group were referred to a physical therapist. They were instructed how to do Pelvic Floor Exercises both before and after surgery, using biofeedback to ensure they were using the proper muscles. The control group did not receive any formal instruction. All of the men completed questionnaires regarding bladder function at regular intervals over the next year.
