Gustav Mahler - Adagietto (from Symphony N°5)

Gustav Mahler's Adagietto from the Fifth Symphony. The audio recording here is specialy edited for the YouTube channel in order to maintain its completeness. There are no cut parts, this is the whole Adagietto, for your enjoyment. ---------------------------------- A note from the author(s): Dear, friends, I thank you for your nice comments and I am glad that you are enjoying these beautiful musical master pieces. I noticed that, from time to time, people will ask why is the image of Jean-Marc Barr on some of the clips. Well, it is a long story. Me (Mare79, a "name" from the image) and "Mayol" (a friend of mine) have made these several classical music videos during the time we were on one forum once. The picture of Jean-Marc Bar was the image of his avatar, and since all these videos were generally his idea, we decided to place a full photo of Jean-Marc in them. Jean-Marc had a role in one of his movies where he played a character named Mayol, so... It was just an idea at that time, but it still remained after all, since we didn't want to remove the video in order to upload a new one without this photo and make this clip an invalid entry in your favourites playlists. So, the smaller image represents the photo of the composer. Enjoy the music, and have a nice day. Best regards to all.

Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 5: Adagietto (Solti, CSO)

Here's one of my favorite pieces with wonderful HD audio because I can't find a decent quality YouTube video of it without having to deal with comments/added video which only distracts from the listening experience. Conducted by Sir Georg Solti and performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Found in the 1992 collection, Mahler: The Symphonies.

Mahler: Adagietto from Symphony 5 (1902) (piano version)

Nate Koch, piano. Mahler sent the score of this movement as a marriage proposal to his wife-to-be, Alma. Without any other explanation, she understood his intention immediately and wrote him back to accept. The outer sections contain one of Mahler's most breathtaking melodies (eg 1:03, 6:42). One of the things I love most about this piece is how at some point the harmonies start to shift so often that finally you have no idea what key you're in, and right at that moment a glissando wipes everything clean and takes you back to that beautiful peaceful F-major melody, even slower and more beautiful than before (4:50).

Bizet: L'Arlésienne Suite, 3. Adagietto - Stokowski/Philadelphia

The incidental music to Alphonse Daudet's play L'Arlésienne (usually translated as 'The Girl from Arles') was composed by Georges Bizet for the first performance of the play in 1872. The music consisted of 27 numbers (some only a few bars) for voice, chorus and small orchestra. The numbers ranged from short solos to longer entr'actes. The music received poor reviews, and is not much performed nowadays in its original form. It has survived and flourished, however, in the form of two separate suites for orchestra. Despite the poor reviews of the incidental music, Bizet arranged his work into a suite of four movements. Now known as L'Arlésienne Suite No. 1, the suite used a full symphony orchestra but without the chorus. The first performance was at a Pasdeloup concert on 10 November 1872. The four movements of the first suite were: I. Prélude, Allegro deciso (the March of the Kings) II. Minuet, Allegro giocoso III. Adagietto IV. Carillon, Allegro moderato The suite opens with a strong, energetic theme, which is based on the Christmas carol "March of the Kings", played by the violins. Afterwards, the theme is repeated by various sections. After reaching a climax, the theme fades away. It is followed by the theme associated with L'Innocent (the brother of Frédéri, the hero). The Prélude concludes with the theme associated with Frédéri himself. The second movement, resembles a minuet, while the third is more emotional and muted. The last movement, Carillon, features a ...

Gustav Mahler: Adagietto from Symphony No.5 & Brazilian Lullaby [Traditional]

Ooooooooh... : ) I needed so much to connect with my inner child tonight. I cried like one too, listening to the chosen music... haha (I do have a heart...hooray!) The music, as always, is from my own collection and in this upload performed by The National Philharmonic Orchestra with Charles Gerhardt conducting Gustav Mahler's most soul stirring piece of perfection. The Brazilian Lullaby... which is played by The London Promenade Orchestra is just listed as 'Traditional', so I cannot pay homage to its creator... it is delightful though. Illustrations are all signed by the artist Cora EM Paterson... but are so very sweet she deserves a mention here too. I would have loved the music to have recorded better... all I know is I sure did my best!!! The montage comes from a Christmas present of my mums given to her in 1939... so, as always, there is some much loved wear and tear displayed... but not 'too' much for a 70+ yr old book. Charles Kingsley's 'The Water Babies' is a must read for all children under the age of 99yrs old : ) The trials and successes of Gustav Mahler (1860 -1911) too, is a life most interesting and worth exploring. There is much here online that has fascinated me regarding his early life to his demise. I do HOPE this is enjoyed... because it took me ages to put together!!!; D
