This is Warren

Warren is multi-talented: a highly-skilled sea kayaker in the traditional style, wooden boat builder, and nature photographer. This is Warren as we all know him best, ripping it up in his sea kayak in the tidal race at Deception Pass. Yes, this movie features the famous shot where he gets vertical in a whirlpool with his Anas Acuta. Greenland Style doesn't get much more EXTREME than this! It's so much fun even Nanook has to join in! Also featured are friends Roger and Nancy, and a guy in a Klepper. www.dashpointpirate.com

Kayak Surfing, Peru

This is from my attempt to surf off a beach in the Reserva Nacional de Paracas. We were using Epic GPX kayaks. Watch as I catch a ride, fall off the crest of the wave and wipe out. While underwater I felt my kayak paddle break in half! I had to roll up using half of the paddle. Then as soon as I got up I was facing right into another wave, which I braced into again. In the end I paddle to shore canoe−style.
Deception Pass Dash 2009

More paddlers showed up for the 4th annual Deception Pass Dash (2009) than ever before! One hundred sixty racers competed in surf skis, sea kayaks, out rigger canoes, paddleboards and even a rowing shell. Imagine the sight off all these paddlers churning up the water of Bowman Bay as a horn blast announced the start of the race, or the long trail of kayaks stretched around the islands as viewed from above on Deception Pass bridge. You really had to have been there to appreciate it. If you weren't, at least you can watch the few moments we captured on video. [Camera/Narration by David Tiller. Editing by Andrew Elizaga.] www.dashpointpirate.com
Why We Paddle: The 6th Annual Deception Pass Dash (2011)

Since the first Deception Pass Dash in December 2006, the Dash has grown into Pacific Northwest's premier winter paddlesports race. It is easy to come up with reasons why so many people are attracted to this event -- the challenge of paddling in strong tidal currents, the possibility of rough winter storm conditions, the stunning beauty of the Pass, and the excitement and sense of camaraderie that comes from participating with so many other paddlers. The 2011 Dash was a two-day paddling festival, which involved about 150 paddlers in surfskis, paddleboards, hawaiian outrigger canoes, and rowing shells as well as sea kayaks. www.dashpointpirate.com
