Just adjust the dimensions. www.vawts.net In this video you can see the increase in speed from the re-designed rotor vanes. The vanes are angled in a way you wouldn't think would work. The airfoil gains lift as the rotor spins. The airfoils are cutting a path around the turbine and lift is at a slight tangent to the axis.
Part 0 (a basic intro to the Armin Wing concept). A really quick and simple way to build an actual airfoil for an RC airplane wing. For a rectangular wing it's at least as easy to make and as strong as a KF airfoil and has the proven high-lift design approximating the "Clark-Y" airfoil used on many real and RC airplanes. Videos to follow will include improvements that take a little extra time but will make the wing more aerodynamic, water resistant, and have an integral control surface for flaps and ailerons. This is just the wing construction - overall airplane design is up to the builder!

berezin.com for more information This is a preview of our new turbine. This turbine is still under development but is performing very well in initial tests. This turbine is much lighter and faster than previous turbines I've built. For one, it is a lift based turbine utilizing symmetrical airfoils rather than a drag based turbine such as the Savonius. This has both advantages and disadvantages. This turbine really goes, but the Savonius starts up easier in super light winds. The airfoils were designed using open source design software and fabricated with composite materials for light weight. This wind turbine also uses sealed bearings and requires no oiling or regular maintenance.

Well here it is, my newly developed unsteady potential flow code in action ;-D. The wake is modelled using linearly varying strength vortex panels that are shed from the trailing edge and advected with the local flow field (ie the wake sheet is force-free). The strength of the wake at each time step is set to satisfy Kelvin's circulation theorem - the circulation contained within a contour bounding the same fluid elements (ie here the aerofoil + its wake) is constant for all time in the absence of external rotational forces and viscosity. This video shows the starting vortex, created when a wing is impulsively set into motion. It is left behind and eventually decays due to viscous dissipation (but not here because this is inviscid flow). The wake is responsible for a source of inviscid drag known as induced drag which is caused by the induced downwash of the wake tilting the resultant force vector rearwards a little. Notice also how the resultant force vector actually grows in time - lift is not instantaneously established but takes a while to reach its steady state value. In fact this time is longer for higher aspect ratio wings because of their more intense wake sheet. In this and all future videos, the blue lines represent suction force (ie directed away from the surface) and the red lines represent overpressure force (ie directed towards the surface) The apparent fragmentation of the wake sheet at the end of the video is caused by truncation error inducing an <b>...</b>

The last of my steady-state animations before some far more interesting unsteady flows ;-) (code almost done). This video shows the effect of a ground plane on an aerofoil. The ground plane is created by having an image of the aerofoil below the ground, thereby creating a line of symmetry which is itself the ground plane. No flow crosses this plane. In terms of magnitude, the pressure field is considerably enhanced by the presence of the ground (here at 0.35c below the leading edge point). The result at positive angles of attack helps explain the phenomenon of light aircraft "floating" down the runway before touchdown. The augmented high pressure beneath the wing generates extra lift keeping the plane aloft despite reduction of speed. This effect increases nearer the ground. Also, the result at negative angles of attack explains the use of ground effect in some racing car underbody designs to dramatically increase suction toward the ground.
