Al Martino - Come Share The Wine

Al Martino - Come Share The Wine The street were dark and the night was cold and yet I walk alone I saw the lights of a cosy place with lanterns all aglow Somebody cried, Dont wait outside, come say, hello The people there, they were singing songs I knew when I was young And from the jukebox I heard a sound I needed to recall. I sang along with every song, I knew them all. Come share the wine No one is a stranger here, theyre your friends and mine Everyones your brother, were a long way from home And we need each other, have no fear, youre welcome here. Come share the wine Its so nice and warm in here, were happy and kind We can understand that youre a long way from home And we have each other, have no fear, youll like it here. It is not so easy to feel at home when homes so far away When all the longing and all the wanting is for yesterday Youve made me find some peace of mind Id like to stay The world seems colder when youre a stranger from a foreign land You need to feel that someone cares and that they understand Many a tear would disappear if we joined hands Come share the wine No one is a stranger here, theyre your friends and mine Everyones your brother, were a long way from home And we need each other, have no fear, youre welcome here. Come share the wine Its so nice and warm in here, were happy and kind We can understand that youre a long way from home But we have each other, have no fear, youll like it here.

Al Martino sings "Volare" (1976)

Al Martino performs his hit "Volare" in this rare music video, filmed in the Italian Alps in 1976. This renditon of "Volare" climbed to Number 1 on the disco charts in France, Germany and Italy. Recorded in the early days of the disco music genre, this pioneering video was produced by Mike Curb, who is now recording Tim McCraw, Faith Hill, Wynona and many other Nashville country music superstars. For his performance on this and other music videos, Al was given the "Jackie O " award in Rome, Italy.

Al Martino - Mary In The Morning (live)

The best there'll ever be, Al Martino, singing one of his many greats, "Mary In The Morning". I went to see him in Lichfield in September and at the age of 80, he sounds just as good as any one of his recordings. The years dropped off him as the show went on - I think the standing ovation could have gone on all night. Romantic song - most wonderful girl next to me - Tony Christie in the row behind - and a warm late summer night outside - perfect. This is taken from one of his shows in the seventies.

Al Martino - "Spanish Eyes" (1966) Tribute

Al Martino (born Alfred Cini, October 7, 1927 -- October 13, 2009) was an American singer and actor. He had his greatest success as a singer between the early 1950s and mid 1970s, being described as "one of the great Italian American pop crooners", and also became well known as an actor, particularly for his role as singer Johnny Fontane in The Godfather. Alfred Cini was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents were immigrants from Malta who ran a construction business, and while growing up he worked alongside his brothers as a bricklayer. However, he was inspired to become a singer by emulating artists such as Al Jolson and Perry Como, and by the success of a family friend, Alfredo Cocozza, who had changed his name to Mario Lanza. After serving with the United States Marines in World War II, including being a part of the Iwo Jima invasion where he was wounded, Cini began his singing career. Encouraged by Lanza, he adopted the stage name Al Martino, taken from his mother's maiden name, and began singing in local nightclubs. In 1948 he moved to New York City, and in 1952 won first place on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts television program with a performance of Como's hit "If". The record's success led to a deal with Capitol Records, and he released three more singles — "Take My Heart," "Rachel," and "When You're Mine" — through 1953, all of which hit the US Top 40.[1] However, his success also attracted the attention of the Mafia, which bought out Martino's ...

Al Martino - Mary In The Morning

Al Martino (born Jasper Cini, October 7, 1927 -- October 13, 2009) was an American singer and actor. He had his greatest success as a singer between the early 1950s and mid 1970s, being described as "one of the great Italian American pop crooners", and also became well known as an actor, particularly for his role as singer Johnny Fontane in The Godfather. Martino was survived by his wife Judi and three children. In December 2009, Al Martino was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. Lyrics: Nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning When through a sleepy haze I see her lying there Soft as the rain that falls on summer flowers Warm as the sunlight shining on her golden hair, aah-umm When I awake and see her there so close beside me I want to take her in my arms, the ache is there So deep inside me Nothin's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning Chasing a rainbow in her dreams so far away And when she turns to touch me I kiss her face so softly Then my Mary wakes to love another day, aah-umm And Mary's there in sunny days or stormy weather She doesn't care `cause right or wrong The love we share, we share together Nothin's quite as pretty as Mary in the evening Kissed by the shades of night and starlight on her hair And as we walk, I hold her close beside me All our tomorrows for a ...

Al Martino - I Can't Get You Out of My Heart (1959)

Charted at #44 on Billboard Hot 100 in May 1959. After Al's initial success in the early '50's with hits such as "Here In My Heart" and "Take My Heart" , he was absent from the Hot 100 for quite a few years, although he continued to chart in the UK. This recording returned him to the Hot 100. "Darling, I Love You", released a few months later, did moderately well hitting #63 and a re-release of his first hit, "Here In My Heart" charted at #86 on the Hot 100 in 1961. He finally made a major comeback in 1963 beginning with "I Love You Because" and this started off a long chain of hits which continued throughout the decade and into the '70's. After his comeback this recording was re-released and charted again at #99 in August 1964.
