Alfred Hitchcock interview (part 1 of 6) Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder Fall 1973

Here it is. Long thought to be lost or destroyed a complete recording has been found of one of the few hour long interviews of Alfred Hitchcock . Originally broadcast as one of the first Tomorrow Shows with Tom Snyder in the Fall of 1973. This recording is from a second repeat of this show broadcast on Memorial day, 1980. The VHS (SP) tape itself was found to be in excellent condition. While properly stored in a climate controlled environment it apparently had not been played in decades. Great care has been taken to make the digital transfer. This segment deals with what Alfred Hitchcock himself is afraid of (ie policemen), is he REALLY a monster?, and what's his idea of happiness?

North By Northwest

Selected as one of the top 50 American films of all time by the prestigious American Film Institute, and considered by many critics to be Hitchcock's greatest film, this fast-paced thriller stars Oscar-winner Cary Grant ("Notorious," "The Philadelphia Story") as a Madison Avenue advertising exec who is mistaken for someone else and kidnapped by a group of international spies, headed by James Mason ("A Star Is Born," "Lolita"). After a hair-raising escape, he is framed for a murder he didn't commit and goes on the run with the lovely Eva Marie Saint ("Superman Returns," "On the Waterfront"). Famous for a wild plane attack and a harrowing chase across the faces of Mount Rushmore, this is quintessential Hitchcock ("Psycho," "The Birds"). With Academy Award-winner Martin Landau ("Ed Wood," "The Majestic") as Mason's evil henchman, this film is the rare combination of action, suspense and humor. Rebecca: Alfred Hitchcock Film Trailer (1940)

1940 www.amazon.com Hitchcock trailers: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Rebecca is a 1940 psychological/dramatic thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock as his first American project, and his first film produced under his contract with David O. Selznick. The film's screenplay was an adaptation by Joan Harrison and Robert E. Sherwood from Philip MacDonald and Michael Hogan's adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel of the same name, and was produced by Selznick. It stars Laurence Olivier as the aristocratic widower Maxim de Winter, Joan Fontaine as his second wife, and Judith Anderson as the housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers. The film is a gothic tale about the lingering memory of the title character, Maxim de Winter's dead first wife, which continues to haunt Maxim, his new bride, and Mrs. Danvers. The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Picture out of a total 11 nominations. Olivier, Fontaine and Anderson were all Oscar nominated for their respective roles. Since the introduction of awards for actors in supporting roles, this is the only film named Best Picture that won no other Academy Award for acting, directing or writing. It was the opening film at the 1st Berlin International Film Festival. At Selznick's insistence, the film adapts the plot of du Maurier's novel Rebecca faithfully. However, one plot detail was altered to comply with the Hollywood Production Code, which said that the murder of a spouse had to be punished. In the novel, Maxim shoots Rebecca, while in ...

The Birds Final Attack Sequence with Full Symphonic Score

The final climatic scene from the 1963 Motion Picture "The Birds". This is one of the Hitchcock's most-noted action scenes accompanied with a full symphonic score written by Marc Parella in 1992 and performed by the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra directed by Henry Charles Smith. The cue takes advantage of several preemptive and forecasting techniques. You know what's going to happen, but the music could fool you, until you know for sure. Equally important is the use of silence when Melanie (Tippi Hedren) opens the door. The final sequence is timed to a split second to coincide with the effects and quick edits. Ms. Hedren called the score for her famous scene "thrilling" and "exciting".

Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps (1/6) Movie - Robert Donat, Madeleine Carroll (1935)

1935 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The 39 Steps is the original 1935 British thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, loosely based on the adventure novel The Thirty-nine Steps by John Buchan. The film stars Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll. There have been four major film versions of the book. Hitchcock's original has been the most acclaimed, and remains so today: In 1999 it came 4th in a BFI poll of British films, while in 2004 Total Film named it the 21st greatest British movie of all time. The Thirty-Nine Steps is an adventure novel by the Scottish author John Buchan, first published in 1915 by William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh. It is the first of five novels featuring Richard Hannay, an all-action hero with a stiff upper lip and a miraculous knack for getting himself out of sticky situations. The novel formed the basis for a number of film adaptations, notably: Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 version; a 1959 colour remake; a 1978 version which is perhaps most faithful to the novel; and a 2008 version for British television. Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (13 August 1899 -- 29 April 1980) was an English filmmaker and producer. He pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. After a successful career in his native United Kingdom in both silent films and early talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood. In 1956 he became an American citizen while remaining a British subject. Alfred Hitchcock: Blackmail and Easy Virtue

Two early films from the Master of Suspense populate this compilation disc. In Blackmail (1929) -- the director's first talkie -- the illicit tryst of a young woman (Anny Ondra) leads to a sexual assault, blackmail and, eventually, murder. The silent melodrama Easy Virtue (1927) chronicles the life of a young divorcée (Isabel Jeans) who tries to start over in France with a new name but finds she can't escape the taint of scandal.
