I found that if you upload a 480p video the resolution on youtube is inferior to your original video. When I converted my 480p videos to 1280x720 for 16-9 videos or 1024 by 720 for 4-3 videos & upload them, the youtube resolution is better even at 480 viewing & no longer blocky. 720 viewing is even better but uses up bandwidth & cpu usage is 96%. So the resolution is better at 480 if you upload the video in 720p resolution for all your videos. To accomplish this I used format factory. It is the best free video converter. No loss in video quality. It can crop,cut videos & audio files, & convert picture files as well. Compare the 720 version with the 480 version on my channel.
