Re: Melting Aluminium at home

Me melting aluminum at my shop. The device is a 1200 Watt CalRod heating element embedded in a Perlite / Furnace Cement (4:1 ratio) refractory. The crucible is a ceramic jar I found at home, it holds 700 mL. The temperature is somewhere around 900C (1650F) or higher... Spent less then $50 dollars to make it.

Why Is Aluminium In The Rainwater? Geo-engineering & Chemtrails

It is amazing how few people notice what is going on in a major part of their environment! This film was made in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand in April-May 2010 in order to draw people's attention to what is going on in their skies. A series of interviews with locals is presented to show how oblivious the majority of people are to what is going on, followed by an interview with 90-year-old Betty Hooper, a founding member of Grey Power in the region, who is well aware of the chemtrail/geo-engineering issue. Hooper, who has seen chemtrails both in New Zealand and overseas, made the suggestion that a chemtrails watch group be started in the region, hence the Northland New Zealand Chemtrails Watch group website at chemtrailsnorthnz.wordpress.com The following is from an article written earlier in the year, about Whangarei. Since this was written, the rainfall has been reasonable and frequent: The smell of chemicals, the presence of chemtrails, aerosol material seen being sprayed from aircraft, distinctive wave patterns in clouds, man-made clouds, persistently cloudy skies without rain, plus the advent of strangely light rain, now seem to be the norm in Whangarei, while last year, they were virtually unknown to the region. Yet in spite of this drastic change to the environment, the drought and seemingly obvious evidence of weather manipulation, many still find it hard to believe that this form of secret warfare could be in play. If it not on TV, then they dont believe it ...

Dangerous! Never do this! Smelting Aluminium without fancy equipment

Seriously, don't ever do this because I don't want to hear about someone burning their fingers off because they did what i did. I use fire a lot, know what I'm doing, and am aware of, and accept the risks. So... I'm starting to think that I may have to build a big robot in the future that is made completely out of melted aluminium. Even better would be to use a giant parabolic dish to melt said aluminium. :-) Mmmm... sun.

Photoshopping iCloud Style Aluminium Icons

In Apple's recent iCloud and iOS5 keynote, a vast array of brushed aluminium style icons were used. In this tutorial we learn how to create an incredible iCloud style aluminium icon in just a few minutes. It's been a real rush to launch this episode (these video tutorials aren't quick to make!) but I'm very excited to be able to offer the first full tutorial for creating these icons with a freshly pioneered method. You saw it here on PhotoGuides first! Better still, the tutorial is versatile enough to allow you to create these aluminium icons with any logo or text embedded, and you'll hopefully be able to adapt the brushed aluminium methods for use in other images. As always, PhotoGuides members can download the high definition version of this tutorial and the Photoshop source files. And of course, it is free to join! To complete this tutorial, you'll also need to download the iCloud logo file which can be found over at www.photoguides.net If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below or over at photoguides.net Otherwise I hope you enjoy the tutorial and stay tuned for more!

Macworld SF 2003 part 1

If you could only ever see one Macworld keynote with Steve Jobs, this would be it. In the final half hour of this Macworld, Mr. Jobs was at the top of his game with the audience completely eating out of his hand. Apple had the technology introductions to back it up too: the world's first 17in widescreen notebook, the first full featured 12in notebook, first ever introduction of 802.11g, first ever backlit keyboard, first introduction of firewire 800. With each introduction the audience goes crazy, and Steve continues to bring them out with perfect salesman timing. This segment begins right after he just got done introducing Keynote for the first time as well, and he gave everyone in the audience a free copy. They were primed. This 3 part video should serve instructionally for anyone who ever aspired to giving a great presentation. No doubt, Steve Jobs is the master at this, and as I said earlier, this may be his greatest Keynote ever. part 2: www.youtube.com part 3: www.youtube.com

Primary Aluminium Production

1. Mine Bauxite 2. Refine bauxite into alumina sand 3. Turn the alumina sand into molton aluminium by elctorlysis. Cast an ingot of aluminium 4. Roll Ingot in to flat sheets 5. Press parts to make an aluminium car (Jaguar XK) The process begins by turning a wheel to mine bauxite rock. From a child's eye-level, it appears as if the rock is moved into the 'blue factory'. Here, they then turn an Archimedes' screw to this simulate crushing the bauxite rock into alumina sand. The sand is then transported via the action of the screw into the 'red factory' which represents a smelter. Here, a water dispenser is pushed down and water (with silver glitter in) is pumped through a tube which goes behind the plasma ball -- the plasma ball represents the electrolysis process which is extremely energy intensive. The tube finally deposits the 'molten aluminium' into an ingot. The fourth step is to roll the aluminium ingot into flat sheets; this achieved by using aluminium foil and a lasagne pasta maker. The final step is to convert the flat sheets into body parts by stamping them; in the display a gear lever is pulled down to represent the stamping action and at the same time a model XK is lifted up before rolling out of the Jaguar Land Rover factory and into a customer's house.
How to make an aluminium air battery.

***This video is outdated*** I have built an aluminium battery that is 10x more powerful than this one. If you are interested, here is the URL: /watch?v=GujZznGtphI This video is a little hard to find with the search engine, so feel free to share with users who might be interested in batteries. Information on how this battery works is very scarce and hard to find. The following is the best explanation I can give for how this battery works: Energy is expended to break the bonds between oxygen and aluminium atoms in aluminium oxide to yield aluminium metal. This aluminium metal then releases energy in the form of an electric current when it combines with OH- ions to form aluminium hydroxide. Meanwhile, some of the electric current is used to make OH ions from water and oxygen at the carbon electrode. Carbon is simply a redox catalyst that will make the second reaction proceed faster. Carbon doesn't get used up in the reaction so it can be used over and over again. There are some improvements that can be made to this kind of cell. The biggest problem with this kind of battery is the rate at which energy is delivered. 20000J of energy could be delivered at a rate of under one watt over a period of time of one week. This problem can be solved by using a capacitor bank to store energy that has to be released over a short period of time. Another solution to this problem is to add hydrogen peroxide to increase the speed at which OH ions are formed. This does increase the rate of ...

The finest aluminium powder you'll probably ever see

I made some aluminium powder to see how fine I could make it. I would say that 99% of the particles are smaller than 3 micron and most of them smaller than 1 micron. It may look like the particles are bigger but that is because the images has been compressed and lots of small particles look like 1 big. The video isn't 6000 x 4000 px. =) I used my steel plate method to mill the aluminium: www.youtube.com Thanks for watching! Comment, rate and subscribe!
