This is the first AMV (sort of) I have created, so any respective criticism is very appreciated. The beautiful song is "Amaranth" by the Finnish metal/rock band Nightwish. The ending song is the opening track from Square Enix's "Advent Children". The clips are from the game Lineage II and the Korean game (not yet reached North America) Zera Imperium Intrigue. Amaranth: a superfood for the backyard gardener
Cultivated as a grain for 8000 years, today, Amaranth is gaining popularity as a crop of the future. It's a very adaptable, drought-tolerant and hardy plant; in fact, most species of Amaranthus are classified as a weed (commonly known as pigweed). It's also a kind of superfood; it's high in protein (12-17%), calcium (more than spinach) and amino acids like lysine (deficient in most grains). The leaves are high in vitamins A and C, riboflavin, and folic acid.

Minecraft Note Blocks - Amaranth
Well, i finally had time to make a new note block song! This one is Amaranth by Nightwish! Personally i think this is my best so far compared to the others, but, some notes sound wrong to me, and the 2 octave limit was playing havoc with some of the notes i needed, so this is a good as i could get it! This is just a mid summer update from the urban survival garden. That really is one cucumber plant that has taken over the trellis. The camerawoman had trouble staying in focus on the squash borers so I spliced in some footage of them. The clipping sound you hear during these shots is me cutting the little pricks in half! Note also how great the gypsy peppers are doing and how many side shoots the Hopi Red Dye Amaranth is putting out. Make sure to tune in to parts two and three.

This is amaranth... it's like popcorn but tiny. Do like, I make it as often as I can xD The problem is that it gets EVERYWHERE. I believe you can see how it pops in every direction. [Edit]: Not so steady since I really needed to hurry, they burn easy/FAST... And other info: I cheated by buying these,best part is that it isn't expensive, and you get quite a lot. Update: Seems like there is a need for some more info here: I do not rinse them before I pop em I do not use any butter/oil. I use a teflon pan. Why don't I use some sort of cover so it won't fly EVERYWHERE? Because they burn really easy and I'm trying to handle a hot as hell pan, a cup of amaranth, getting the popped amaranth quickly into something, getting new amaranth seeds into the pan and so on. But hey, it might work for you with a lid. I just like to keep it hot so *mostly all* the seeds pop. Any questions, just ask.

Forgotten Foods: Cooking with Amaranth
Three cereal grains: Wheat, corn/maize and rice provide most of human calories, and comprise together at least 75% of the world's grain production. Navdanya, the organisation founded by Dr Vandana Shiva promotes the preservation of traditional varieties of seeds, as well as biodiversity of seeds. For this, it is important for people to learn about other cereal grains and vegetables that used to be popular in the past, but are now forgotten foods, as they are rapidly disappearing. Here is a cooking demonstration by Maya Goburdhan, President, Navdanya, showing how 'amaranth' can be used. With this basic introduction to making a cutlet, the viewer is encouraged to use the popped amaranth seeds in a variety of delectable ways in dals, salads, desserts and toppings using his or her own imagination. Harvesting amaranth grain is actually simple to do and only take a few minutes. Several species are raised for amaranth grain in Asia and the Americas. Ancient amaranth grains still used to this day include the three species, A. caudatus, A. cruentus, and A. hypochondriacus. Amaranth was (and still is) cultivated on a small scale in parts of Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, India, and Nepal, there is potential for further cultivation in the US and tropical countries and it has been called "the crop of the future" by permaculturists and others. Amaranth is high in protein, particularly in the amino acid, Lysine, which is low in the cereal grains. In fact, Amaranth has the highest lysine content of all the grains in this study with Quinoa coming in a close second. To make your whole wheat bread a complete protein, substitute about 25% of your wheat flour with Amaranth flour. Amaranth, by itself, has a really nice amino acid blend. Just 150 grams of the grain is all that's required to supply an adult with 100% of the daily requirement of protein. Amaranth is one of the highest grains in fiber content. This makes Amaranth an effective agent against cancer and heart disease. Amaranth is also the only grain in this study that contains significant amounts of phytosterols which scientists are just now <b>...</b>

While waiting for Imaginaerum.... :)) This is my first upload of me playing the piano and I chose "Amaranth" composed by Tuomas Holopainen from Nightwish. I mixed the orchestral and album version so some of the cords and breaks are a bit different and I'm mostly playing the notes and chords that orchestra and choir is playing/singing. Usually stuff played on guitar doesn't sound so good on piano so I had to change some parts too. This year I had 2 Greek Giant Amaranth plants growing in the garden. They were beautiful and I'll definitelly be growing more of them next year!
