Story of the Anabaptists

Inspired by the lifestyle of the early church the Anabaptists, the radicals of the Reformation, rejected the compromised values of Christendom and the state church to begin communities of peace and reconciliation. Anabaptism today inspires ways of responding to a secular world in conflict. For more go to www.anabaptist.asn.au

Here at last are the ones I can identify the most with. They were called the Radicals and for their time they were. By being baptised as adults they were denying the efficacy of their childhood baptism and in so doing incurred the wrath of not only the Roman Catholic Church but those Protestants who had not yet seen the full light of the Scriptures. They had not seen that baptism actually plays no part in salvation but is instead by Faith Alone without any good or indeed ritual works. (Eph 2:8-10) These early Baptists frequently paid the ultimate price for their simple faith. To the shame of the early Reformers it was the Protestants who often did the persecuting I believe that believers Baptism is the true biblical form of baptism. I was baptised by full immersion when I was 28. I am not alone in finding it ironic that many Baptists are Calvinists as they would have been put to death under the reign of Calvin.

O God, Do Thou Sustain Me - Anabaptist Martyr Hymn

An anabaptist hymn of prayer for strength and protection, written by Leonhart Sommer, who died in prison, December 1573, because of his belief. Song taken from the Christian Hymnary. ******* Please click to play all the featured Christian hymns: www.youtube.com O God, do Thou sustain me, In grief and sore duress Pride counter which disdains Thee And comfort my distress. O Lord let me find mercy In bonds and prison bed Men would seek to devour me With guile and controversy Save me from danger dread! Thou wilt never forsake me This firmly I believe Thy blood Thou hast shed freely And with it washed me. Therein my trust is resting In Christ, God's only Son On him I am now building In tribulation trusting God will me not disown! To die and to be living Until my end I see To Thee my trust I'm giving Thou wilt my helper be Soul, body, child companion Herewith commit I Thee Come soon, Lord, come and take me From ruthless men do save me Be honour ever to Thee. Amen.

Blind Anabaptist Blues - Hallelujah (by Leonard Cohen)

Blind Anabaptist Blues perform Hallelujah (by Leonard Cohen. Live at the Morseland, July 2008, Chicago, IL. Leonard Cohen is widely held as one of his generations greatest songwriters, and many consider Hallelujah to be among his most emotionally powerful songs. -- www.blindanabaptistblues.com They say there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this: The fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah (x4) Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Baby I've been here before I've seen these walls, I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew you. I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah There was a time you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me, do you? I remember when I moved in you The holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above And all I ever learned of love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya. It's not a cry you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

An Anabaptist water Baptizing - 2011

Our local church house follows the KJ bible way of publikly going out into open waters and being water baptized. After one has repented of their sins towards and God and believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This day on the beach was an exciting and windy day :-) Ac 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
