The top parts of the radio were the easiest to work on. All we had to do was spread the tape semi-evenly. When viewed from a low angle is basically looks like a solid piece. The closer we got to the bottom of the radio, the more difficult it became. Even a small 1 inch by 1 inch piece could take 20 minutes to work on. There were several points during the creation of the illusion that I was ready to give up. I did a few test shots when the radio was half finished and it just didnt seem to be working. But we kept going and we were pretty happy with <b>...</b>

We were recently asked by a few people "Whats the difference in shooting anamorphic or not". In some shots the difference is obvious, in other shots...not so much. Obviously the flares are a big difference, but it also has an overall look and feel that is a bit softer (which is a plus when dealing with these super sharp DSLRs like the 5D Mark II). The other big characteristic, that we've seen our entire lives in hollywood movies that use Anamorphics, is the oblong or oval bokeh. More before and after shots on the way! I have one of the more banding prone GH1 models. This should also be the worlds first handheld anamorphic vlog. If you compare the light areas to dark areas you can see different levels of banding and noise. 1k in the background makes the FPN go away due to overexposure in that area of the frame.

This video demonstrates the optical performance on a wide open Lumix 14-140 Mega OIS lens at the 17mm, 20mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 70mm. Just a quick simple test with the Canon T1i and a Generic anamorphic lens. Using this lens will yield "Scope" ratio. This is a quick test with only about 10 minutes until it got dark so sorry for the noise in the footage. The quality is not so great because I was more focused on getting the right ratio instead of a quality image. Shot handheld so the footage is shaky.

This is a camera test for a Cp-16 16mm camera with a AG-LA7200 anamorphic widescreen adapter. This special piece was originally made for digital cameras but because the lens is analog/ physical not digital (Eg The lens uses glass prisms) you can use it on a film camera. The film I used was an old stock of Vision 320T. Oddly enough I think this didn't come out as good as my other camera- a Bell and howell wind up camera with the same film stock ( www.youtube.com ). I actually added a small segment from the other film camera to show the difference. Instead of an expensive super 16 upgrade I decided just to experiment with anamorphics since it would avoid the "blow-up" issue as with regular 16mm. I filmed on multiple focal lengths with a zoom lens. This was a 'standard definition" telecine to DV tape then uploaded onto my computer. It probably doesn't do the original justice. I'm still trying to figure out why alot of this footage isn't as sharp and why more grainy then the other. It could be the color corrector, the lighting, the fact that i had to get the lens adapter repaired (Although it shouldn't of effected the quality this way), whatever it is, i hope it's not the camera- this is my sync camera.

devowe.com - A 90 second tutorial on exporting 1080p widescreen (16:9) footage to Cinemascope aspect ratio (otherwise known as Panavision or Anamorphic Scope - 2.35:1 ratio). In this example, I used 100 pixels on the top and bottom. TRUE 2.35:1 aspect ratio would be 132px on top, and 131px on bottom (or vice versa). The final output would be 817px tall. Please bestow a ♥ like or leave a ✉ comment if you have questions! ☞ ASPECT RATIO CONVERSION METHOD: To convert from any aspect ratio to a wider format (such as 2.35:1 or 1.85:1), all you have to do is DIVIDE the WIDTH of your SOURCE footage (1920 in this example) by the final aspect ratio desired (2.35 in this example). So, 1920 DIVIDED BY 2.35 = 817 pixels tall Your final output would be 1920x817. ✏ To find the amount to crop off the top and bottom, subtract your pixel number (817px here) from your source footage height (1080px) and divide it by two. If it is a decimal number (such as 131.5), even it out to whole pixels (ie - crop 132px from top, 131px from bottom). ✏ Here are some examples of aspect ratio conversion methods. These are all assuming 1920x1080 footage. The centenary celebrations of Platt Fields public park, Rusholme, Manchester. They had no fireworks to celebrate 100 years of this fine park so we decided to create them on the tarmac!
