Muhammad Ali vs Jerry Quarry 26-10-1970 1-2

Ali Vs Quarry-Oct 26th, 1970 Atlanta Muhammad Ali had not been able to fight for more than 3 years because of his legal troubles. Before he was on his hiatus he was dominating each fighter he faced. He was so much faster and smarter in the ring then his opponents that it looked like child's play. Ali was 29-0 when he came back to the ring to fight Jerry Quarry. Quarry was no easy first fight, and in fact many predicted he would beat Ali. Quarry was a tough fighter who was out pointed in a tough decision to Jimmy Ellis for the World Title 2 years earlier. Quarry had a good left hook and great chin and was willing to fight anyone. Quarry was 37-4-4 going into this contest. Everyone was anxious to see if Ali still had the speed and incredible skills that he had before his semi retirement. Let's find out Here's the fight as I saw it Round 1- Ali comes out on his bicycle and connects with jabs. Quarry ducks many jabs and is watching Ali's style without throwing many punches yet. Good first round back for Ali. Ali's Round- 10-9 Round 2- Same strategy for Ali, he's moving effectively and slipping Quarry's left hooks. Quarry starts pressuring more and is more effective then in round 1, but is still being outworked by Ali. Ali's Round- 10-9 (20-18) Ali ANDREA ( ANDREACHEOR )

1966 muhammad ali vs george chuvalo (voice don dumphy) part1

Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Canada, 29th March, 1966. On 17th February of 1966 Muhammad Ali mad his famous comments 'I aint got no quarrel with them Vietcong.' This statement came at a time when there was little opposition to the war in Vietnam. Muhammad Ali was banned from fighting in Chicago and Louisville after his comments and it soon became apparent that Ali would have to fight outside of America. Muhammad Ali was due to meet Ernie Terrell and Toronto accepted an offer to host the bout, but Terrell pulled out due to contractual problems. George Chuvalo a tough Canadian stepped in. Ali had considered Chuvalo as an opponent before, but Chuvalo's fame has faded after being defeated by Terrell. Chuvalo had lost twelve times but boasted that he had never been knocked out. Chuvalo's corner devised a strategy based on sapping Ali's incredible speed. A concerted body attack, they reasoned, would take away his mobility in the later rounds. overhearing their plan, Ali deliberately exposed his torso to Chuvalo's punches, effectively giving the challenger ten free shots while taunting him to hit harder! Muhammad Ali was exceptionally strong and Chuvalo made little headway. Although, Ali later claimed that Chuvalo was tougher than both Liston and Patterson. In truth, the fight was one-sided, except for a brief rally from Chuvalo in the closing stages. The judges gave the challenger just one round out of fifteen and even his close family would of had problems recognizing him such ...

FOTY 1978- Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks I 1-8

FOTY 1978- Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks I 1-8 Muhammad Ali vs Leon Spinks 1 Venue: Hilton Pavillion, Las Vegas. 15th February, 1978. The 1976 Olympic Heavyweight Champion Leon Spinks was a rookie professional with just five fights and a manager called Butch Lewis behind him. Muhammad Ali was first cool on taking the fight but then figured out an angle to sell the fight. Ali, himself an Olympic Champion, had beaten all the other gold medalists of his era; namely Floyd Patterson (1956), Joe Frazier (1964) and George Foreman (1970). The raw and ill-disciplined Spinks offered Ali the chance to beat another olympic champion. Ali did not really train for the fight with the rumour being that he only sparred twenty rounds in preperation. Still, Ali should have been able to handle Spinks. But, the pattern of Ali's most recent fights was repeated. Ali lay on the ropes while the challenger built up a lead. But when Ali later went to the well he found it empty for the first time in his career. He could not erode the early lead built by Spinks and could not engineer a stopage. Adrenaline and the thought of beating Ali carried Spinks through The champ summoned something for the last round and drove Spinks into the ropes, but it was not enough. Ali lost a split decision, which appeared a little kind to the beaten champ.( from boxing memorabilia ) -andrea- ( andreacheor )

1980-02-10 Larry Holmes vs Muhammad Ali 1-5

Muhammad Ali had been retired for a little over 2 years when he decided he was still the true champion. Other then exhibitions Muhammad Ali was far removed from championship form. Larry Holmes was already 35-0 and becoming a great champion in his own right when Ali started calling him out. Holmes was a former sparring partner of Ali and looked at Ali as something of an idol. Holmes was fresh off wins against Lorenzo Zanon, Leroy Jones and Scott Ledoux, all in konckouts. Those fighters were no where near the quality of Ali, but was Ali over the hill? Ali had last fought two contests against Leon Spinks and after losing the first, won the rematch to put his record at 56-3. Ali would be 39 years old for this fight and although he was in excellent condition, everyone wondered if he could turn back the clock against the younger champion Larry Holmes.

Muhammad Ali vs Jerry Quarry 26-10-1970 2-2

Round 3- Ali sets down on his punches more this round and the fight looks like it's really starting. Quarry Wings left hooks and connects with some body shots. The fight looks like it's gonna get interesting, but all of a sudden after an Ali punch blood starts flowing from Quarry's eye. Ali punches the eye and it's a real mess. Ali's Round 10-9 (30-27) Ali Between rounds 3 and 4 the doctor stops the fight because of the cut to Quarry's eye. Ali-TKO 3 This fight really was never given a chance to get going. Ali seemed to have his speed still but his endurance wasn't tested. Quarry was apologetic almost that the fight couldn't go on, but his old nemesis the cut was causing problems again. Quarry would get another chance at Ali in another year and fight many more top fighters. Ali proved he still had skills, it was still a question to see if he could come back to his old form and beat the new champ Smokin Joe Frazier.

muhammad ali frazier 3 special

Araheta Coliseum, Manila, Philippines. 1st October, 1975. The finale of the Ali and Frazier trilogy and probably the greatest fight in boxing history. Although the Thrilla In Manila fight would quickly assume the same iconic status as the Rumble In The Jungle, the announcement that Ali and Frazier had signed to meet for a third time was not met with immediate enthusiasm. Both boxers were considered well past their best. Ali traveled to Manila with a 50 strong entourage, a vast circus of trainers, corner men, gofers and hangers on. Frazier traveled lighter just 17 were in his party, but his was a more heavy presence. He appeared dark and determined, a man bent on revenge and redemption no matter what the cost. This was another Don King promotion. He had extracted a vast fee from President Ferdinand Marcos and his wife Emelda, who treated the country's money as their own. Ali received $4 million guaranteed against 43 percent of the gross takings, and Frazier was getting $3 million (Ali in fact received $6 million). The build up to the fight followed the familiar pattern. Goading Frazier with his"It will be a Killer, And a chiller, And a Thrilla, when I get the gorilla in Manila. At the pre fight press conference Ali produced a toy gorilla and began punching it. Once again Frazier was hurt by Ali's antics. "Look at my beautiful kids. How can I be a gorilla?" Frazier said. "I don't want to knock him out, I want to take his heart out." The fight began at 10:45 am to accommodate ...
