I will be adding also the narration because it may help people. I hope this helps you. -When an RBC has lived about 120 days, it gets caught in the reticular tissue of the spleen. The RBCs rupture and the released hemoglobin is ingested by macrophages. -The broken chains of Hemoglobin are broken down to individual amino acids that are metabolized or used to build new proteins.Iron is released from the heme of the hemoglobin, Iron is then transported by transferrin into the blood, to various tissues for storage, or to red bone marrow for making new hemoglobin. -The heme group without the iron is converted to biliverdin, which is then converted to bilirubin. Bilirubin is then transported into the liver by albumin, where it is stored and concentrated in the gallbladder as bile. It will then be secreted into the duodenum of the small intestine. -As it passes through the large intestine, bacteria will convert bilirubin into bilirubin derivatives, such as urobilin and stercobilin. Stercobilin contributes to the color of feces. Urobilin is absorbed into the blood and excreted thruogh the kidneys into the urine, urobilin is responsible for the yellow color in urine.
