Noor Jehan was the adopted stage name for Allah Wasai (September 21, 1926 December 23, 2000) who was a singer and actress in British India and Pakistan. She is renowned as one of the greatest singers of her time and was given the honorific title of Mallika-e-Tarranum . Born in a family of musicians, Noor Jehan was pushed by her parents to follow in their musical footsteps and become a singer but she was more interested in acting in films and graced the earliest Pakistani films with her performances. She holds an astounding record of 10000 songs to her singing credits in various languages of Pakistan including Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi languages. Noor Jehan is one of the most influential singers in the eastern world. Often compared to Lata Mangeshkar, Jehan has successfully balanced movie soundtracks with non-film recordings and performances. While her film credits include such hit movies as Khandaan, directed in 1942 by her husband Shaukit Hussain, Nadaan, Bari Maa, Dahai, and her most successful film, Anmol Ghari, in 1946, Jehan's hit records include Sayonee Mera Mahi and Sannu Neher Waalay Pul Te Bula Kay. Little is known of Jehan's earliest life. She was born in or around the town of Kasur in Punjab (pre-partician British India) anywhere from 1922 to 1929 and her birthday is either September 21 or 23. Babita or Bhambhani (20 April 1948) is an Indian actress. She is now better known as the mother of actresses Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor and the wife to Randhir Kapoor.In her short career she appeared in 19 films including: Dus Lakh (1966), Raaz (1966), Farz (1967), Aulad (1968), Haseena Maan Jayegi (1969), Kab Kyon Aur Kahan (1970) and many more. She starred with her future husband Randhir Kapoor in the hit film Kal Aaj Aur Kal.She married Randhir Kapoor on 6 November 1971. After their marriage, Babita had to leave the film industry, as part of the Kapoor tradition which forbids women from acting in films. The marriage produced 2 children: Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.Babita was offered the author-backed role of a widow (eventually played by Hema Malini) in Ramesh Sippy's Andaaz, but her father thought it was contrary to her glamour girl image and prevailed upon Babita to turn it down.
