New Uke - Anuenue Mahogany Soprano. Really nice, very lightly built, plays and sounds great. No new tune; I am half way through learning the Music Box Waltz so will probably be about 6 months before that will be ready for a video. So you want to know the difference between koa and mahogany, tone-wise? What's it to Uke? OH GOD I HAVE A MILLION OF THEM. Also, I have two three ukuleles, an aNueNue Lani 2 and an aNueNue Papa 3 (also a Lanikai uke). One is laminate koa, and the other laminate mahogany, and body-syle aside, these two ukes sound remarkably different. In addition to comparing their tonal qualities, I offer my assessment of the build of the aNueNue Ukuleles. In a word: impressive. These mid-priced ukuleles are hard to fault in th craftsmanship department, and their setups are nearly unseen in this price-range. And did I mention the gig bags?!?!?

Here it is...The long awaited arrival of the ANueNue banjolele! This is a beautiful little instrument with the vintage look and feel of 1920s and 30s banjo ukes. The concert scale (15.5") neck is made of curly maple with an ebony fingerboard and geared tuners. The 8 inch rim is also constructed of curly maple with a flush-fitting removable resonator. It is fitted with a Fiberskyn head. The hardware is burnished to give it an aged look. Also included is a deluxe retangular hard case. ONLY $499

The cool, green town of Waimea (aka Kamuela) is home to what could be Hawaii's best playground. Anuenue Playground, an incredible wooden wonderland, was built and is maintained by the entire community. It's a must-visit stop as we pass through on our way from Hilo to Kapa'au. Given the subject matter, there's a lot of shaky handheld camera work here (including an ill-advised trip down a slide), which doesn't necessarily mix with the HD widescreen format.
