Asturias, Patria Querida to pieśń, będąca hymnem Asturii. Hiszpański oryginał tej piosenki powstał najprawdopodobniej w latach '20., a spopularyzowany został w czasie wojny domowej (1936-1939). Hymn był zakazany w czasach reżimu generała Francisco Franco, czyli aż do roku 1975, podobnie jak wszelkie inne przejawy ruchów narodowo-wyzwoleńczych i regionalnych. Od roku 1984 jest ona oficjalnym hymnem Asturii, czyli Principado de Asturias. Polskie tłumaczenie hymnu było znaną w latach '60. i '70. piosenką patriotyczno-biesiadną, noszące tytuł "Asturia". A ta wersja została nagrana w 1954. Asturias, Patria Querida is the anthem of the Spanish autonomous community of Asturias. This adaptation of a much slower song from the neighbouring lands of Cantabria (Madre, cuando voy a leña) was appointed as official anthem after a contest in Oviedo in the 1890s. It has both a Castilian and an Asturian version. It is also a popular melody for bagpipers. It has been recently discovered that this song was written in Cuba. The father of the author had returned to his beloved Asturias to die, the author - Ignacio Piñeiro - dedicated the song to his father. The music was different, it is believed to be a melody that Polish miners from the area of Opole Silesia -that worked in Asturian coal mines at the beginning of the 20th century- had brought to Asturias. The fifth movement of that suite, called Asturias (Leyenda) is probably most famous these days in the classical guitar world, even though it was originally composed for piano and only later transcribed to guitar by Francisco Tárrega. Many of his other compositions were also later transcribed to guitar - Albéniz himself preferred Tárrega's guitar transcriptions to his original piano works. Leyenda (Asturias) is a work of classical music written by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz. Originally written for piano in G minor, it was Francisco Tárrega who transcribed it for guitar and put it in its most recognizable key, E minor. It is the most famous section in a suite entitled "Suite Española" (Op. 47), noted for its delicate, intricate melody and abrupt dynamic changes. At work practising Asturias on my brand new Per Hallgren Double Top. This is my own transcription of the piece. Leyenda (Asturias) is a work of classical music written by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz. Originally written for piano in G minor, it was first published in Barcelona, by Juan Bta. Pujol & Co., in 1892 as the opening "Preludio" of a three-movement set entitled Chants d' Espagne, op. 23. The name Asturias was given to it by German publisher Hofmeister, who included it into Suite Espagnole's "complete version" at 1911. This music is not influenced by northern Asturia county music though, being strongly influenced by Andalusian traditions.
