The world-renowned contemporary dance company Hubbard Street Dance Chicago performs Untouched by choreographer Aszure Barton. Using music by saxophonist and composer Curtis Macdonald; pianist and musical director Njo Kong Kie; and Russian-born violist Lev "Ljova" Zhurbi, the illustrious choreographer Aszure Barton has collaborated with each dancer independently and built a shared vocabulary for the ensemble based on these personal interactions. Sydney Dance Company's premiere of 'Sid's Waltzing Masquerade' by world renowned, choreographer, Aszure Barton. Aszure Barton is a New York-based, Canadian born choreographer and the director of her own dance troupe Aszure & Artists, founded in 2002. At present, Aszure Barton is Artist-in-Residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York, where she has created commissioned work for Mr. Baryshnikovs new performing company Hells Kitchen Dance. Aszure also performs and tours with Mr. Baryshnikovs troupe, in works such as the acclaimed Come In, which she choreographed.

LES CHAMBRES DES JACQUES establishes a form of dialogue between the choreographer and dancers, an almost interactive exploration, focused on a human dimension that oscillates between daily life and the grotesque, the banal and the unexpected. This choreography was hailed by the critics and the public during its recent international tour. In order to let « real life » exude from the performers bodies, Aszure Barton says that she transformed the dance studios into a true asylum of peace, or of madness, or battle. Such a place, open to all possibilities, could allow for the emergence of a raw, authentic matter, both intimate and universal. Exploring all forms and shapes of the individual down to the roots of her animal physicality, Aszure Barton has interwoven her piece with the personal habits and styles which she has observed among dancers, details which make up their individual personalities, and those marvelous little imperfections which speak of the beauty and fragility of being.
