Atmega8 square wave sound generator


This video shows my first real attempt to build something using microcontroller. It's atmega8 with PWM sound output (but it doesn't use built-in PWM, just portb's pin toggling), 5 diodes and 4 momentary switches. Two switches raises or lowers sound pitch. Program was written in C. Besides that I also made switchable multi-mode-diode-blinker ;-)

About the UART, I used the IC MAX232 to connect my Notebook, it was because I have remained some MAX232 and I can use it directly. ATmega8 board - Sound, RGB LED, Clock


Hey, that's my newest thing. It's a pretty small board (10x5cm). There's a RGB LED, a Display, an ATmega8, 4 buttons, a voltage controller, a speaker, an ISP connector and a 16MHz oscillator on it. Of course there are some resistors and stuff like that, too^^. The software is able to create any color using the LED (16581375 possibilities). That's made with PWM. The clock uses a 16bit compare timer. It's pretty exact, though there's some variation. Power is given from a 9V Battery, in development stage I used a 9V power connector. The next step is to make the sound creator, it'll be a simple frequence generator, we'll see how it'll work. TD

This circuit allows the user to control the speed of an AC fan (or intensity of AC light Bulbs) using an IR Remote Control. The circuit provides 10 way speed control. The load can also be switched on and off by the remote control unit. This is my first project with a microcontroller. The controller is the ATMEGA8-16PU, and the temperature sensor is the AD22103KTZ-ND from digikey (3.3 volt IC temp sensor). Using avr-gcc to program the chip, a homemade serial port programmer, and avrdude for Linux.
